“Pray for Obama” t-shirt removed from the market

A t-shirt soliciting prayer for Barack Obama has been removed from various online marketing sites. Article.

PsalmTshirt

The shirt was removed after it was discovered that the biblical text cited suggests a desire for Obama’s death.

(Psa 109:8-9 NASB)  Let his days be few; Let another take his office. {9} Let his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow.

This stuff is getting scary. I hope the President is able to shield his children from this.

Conservatives and republicans should be ashamed!

There are two levels of scary here.

One, is the obvious one being discussed: threeats against your President, etc.

Two, it seems to me that your country is sinking back to the 1930s. (I recommend reading the section on the 1930s from William Manchester’s THE GLORY AND THE DREAM.)

When the leaders and their followers act like bully adolescents, our country regresses. Seems like we’ve been on this downslope for decades.

Could you please send an influx of new blood?

The right wing claims to believe in “representative democracy”. This shirt is just one example that what they really want is mob rule (as long as it’s their mob!).

Shades of the Roman crowd in the arena determining the fate of the gladiator…

I see them as 13 year olds giggling and snickering that they’re really putting one over on the grown-ups with their scripture tee shirt. Jackasses.

    Clarification –

What they really want is a totalitarian theocracy (as long as it is their “theocratic mob” calling the shots and dispensing their brand of “purity” and purging those that don’t conform.

My grandmother told me never to trifle with the God of the Universe. These people who use scripture seem to think God is an entity at their disposal and not their Creator.

Mary Brown: These people who use scripture seem to think God is an entity at their disposal and not their Creator.

That much is a perfectly respectable position. The reason to deplore the message on the T-shirt has nothing to do with one’s theology.

I disagree. It has to do with theology and how others choose to use it for their political benefit. Yes, it is a reason to deplore it.

jvn: Conservatives and republicans should be ashamed!

I know a bunch of conservatives and Republicans, and they abhor such excrement same as you and me. Don’t let our hobby get you down. The haters are losing, not winning.

Can you imagine these people being in charge? Rampant and widespread hate, especially if you don’t adhere to their religion. They have way too much hate!

And yet they do nothing but talk about Islam being a religion of hate. What is the verse about removing the timber from thine own eye before worrying about the splinter in they neighbor’s eye?

The right wing in reality is the Christian Taliban. Look at McVeigh. Coulter, Palin and their coterie’s real goal is to theocratize the country. Read about John Anderson and his Jesus amendment.

During Reagan’s second term, Falwell called the 1st Amendment “a mistake,” and called for an amendment to nullify the 1st, “with the Jewish people declared a protected minority.”

I am looking for links, but I did read it in the Washington Post. I’m not relating this second hand.

Here’s a video of Hagee saying those who don’t work should starve, like it says in the bible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mQvvGJYQaM

    But remember, he loooves Israel.

Or forgive others trespasses in the way you want to be forgiven by God. It always amazes me that we pray that prayer (The Lord’s Prayer) without analyzing what we are asking. And you are right Misha. I have heard all kinds of crazy things.

“Conservatives and republicans should be ashamed!”

jvn should wake up and smell the coffee, then go out black friday and buy a clue, for thinking its an entire party that advocates hate. I hate stupidity, but I don’t hate you. I just hate the ignorance within you and others acting the same.

see Lupin, your as bad or worse than jvn. You judge an ENTIRE COUNTRY on a handful of loons. That’s some quality ideology there.

It’s hard to say whether Lupin’s biased because he is not an American or that I’m biased because I am.

I think the loonies are just a vocal fringe, but I read that 68% of conservatives would vote for Sarah Palin. I remember that the South actually seceded from the country not so very long ago. My main hope is that the citizenry on the whole is too wealthy to rock the boat very much.
