Massive birther identity theft attempt?

Batshirt Crazy

Batshirt crazy

We deal with a lot of things on this web site that have a questionable rational basis, but this is really totally wacko.

I received an email from Phil J. Berg, Obama denialist litigant, and confirmed that it’s the same as what appears on his web site, ObamaCrimes.com. Berg is planning a “Birth Certificate March on Washington.” That in and of itself is in my opinion silly, but what is totally wacko is this:

Berg is requesting all citizens of the United States to email, fax or mail a “copy” of their Birth Certificate that will be presented to Obama demanding that Obama resign because he has failed to produce his long form [vault] Birth Certificate to show he is “Constitutionally eligible” to be President.

Now think for a moment. You call up your bank and they want to verify that you are who you say you are. They ask you a “security question.” The question is something like “what’s your mother’s maiden name?” or “what’s your father’s middle name?” or “what is the city where you born?” or “what’s the name of the street where you lived as a child?”. Well DUH! All of that information could be found on your birth certificate! In some places, a birth certificate gives you enough information to show you are entitled to a real state-issued certified copy of a birth certificate, which along with a fake social security card will get you a driver’s license and then a passport, and then a way to get around that pesky terrorist watch list at the airport.

I bet the scam artists are already casing Berg’s office for the robbery of all that juicy personal information.

I don’t who is more out of their mind, the person who would ask for something like that, or the person who would send their personal information to a fax number or an email address they found on the Internet.

There are people who are so blinded by their hatred of Obama, that they actually will do that.

    Grifters are drooling.

  2. Scientist says:

It is possible that the entire “birther movement” has been a giant confidence scheme designed by the identity thieves of the Russian mafia (interesting how a Russian is so prominent in the “movement”, no?). All the lawsuits, websites, TV appearances, etc. have been carefully designed, like the fake gambling parlor in “The Sting” or Bernie Madoff’s monthly statements to lure the marks into playing. Now we are witnessing the final act-the separation of the carefully set-up suckers from their money.

Well, it’s at least as plausible as any of Sven’s scenarios…

  3. NBc says:

    ROTFL, you and your cat…

  4. Dave says:

I took a look at the paypal button on Berg’s website, which donates to the Law Offices of Phil J. Berg. This contrasts with the paypal button on Taitz’s website, which donates to the Defend Our Freedoms Foundation.

I’m not a lawyer, so feel free to regard the following as uninformed BS. I believe that donations to a named single individual have no registration requirements, no reporting requirements, and unless they rise to levels unlikely in this situation they have no tax consequences. On the other hand, my understanding is that organizations that solicit donations must properly register with the state, must make financial reports, and can pay the officers out of the donations but this is then taxable income on the officers’ tax returns.

And, as far as I can tell, the Defend Our Freedoms Foundation is not registered for soliciting donations in the state of California and has filed no financial reports.

  5. misha says:

The whole thing is a scam of the gullible. Farah is selling things that usually go on infomercials, or for only $30 he’ll send a fax in YOUR name to the White House. He’s not a foundation, so no reporting. He can claim it is a personal gift, less than $10K, so no tax. I wish I thought of it first.

  6. Saint James says:

“I just faxed him this”….Ha ha ha ha ha

You never fail to make me laugh! Now I’m a rabid fan! ha ha ha ha ha

  7. sponson says:

In addition to the points outlined here, I would also add that due to the fact that Taitz’s website was infected with malicious software for months, it is quite likely that several birthers have since had their identities or other personal information stolen as a result of visiting her site. It’s a dangerous world out there for anyone not fully in touch with reality.

  8. misha says:

I’m sure there is some connection with the Russian mob. Israel is crawling with mobsters.

True story: An Israeli was sitting in his car in Prague, when someone threw a hand grenade under, injuring him. The chief rabbi, along with everyone else started screaming neo-nazis. The police discovered the one who threw the grenade was another Israeli, who owned a competing casino. They were having a turf war.

  9. Saint James says:

It’s kinda fishy for Phil Berg to solicit his supporters for their birth certificates especially now that he is associated with LUCAS SMITH with a criminal background of forgery and CHARLES LINCOLN III who was disbarred for using false SSN. Hmmmm!

A penny for your thought SVEN?

  10. Montana says:

We won the election and now these sore losers will continue to spew your hate with lies. The way our courts work is that you get a competent lawyer, verifiable facts and present them to a judge, if the facts are real and not half baked lies, then, and only then, you proceed to trial. The Birthers seem to be having a problem with their so called facts that they present. Let’s face it no one will go along with you until you guys win a case, but until then, you will continue to appear dumb, crazy or racist, or maybe all three. Keep plucking that chicken.

  11. misha: I justfaxed him this.

I thought I might fax him a copy of the COLB.

  12. Re Orly’s Defend Our Freedom Foundation, see:

    https://efbn.ocgov.com/eFBNweb/ (search for Orly Taitz)

  13. G says:

Speaking of Smith & Lincoln, per the latest update on the “badfiction” website, both of these clowns are following in Orly’s footsteps, hoping to run their own “birther” campaigns in CA:

    http://badfiction.typepad.com/badfiction/2010/02/groundhog-birthers-birther-update.html#more

    BRIEF EXCERPT FOLLOWS:

4 February – Hot on the heels of Dr. Orly’s interest in running for California Secretary of State, comes the news that disbarred felon Charles E. Lincoln III and convicted forger Lucas Smith plan to run for office in California themselves, at least according to Lucas Smith’s YouTube.

    “InspectorSmith (15 hours ago)
I’m confident that everyone here on the forum (those that participate as well as the that watch silently) is ready for change.

Charles Edward Lincoln III is planning to run for Governor of California (2010).

I, Lucas Daniel Smith, am planning to run for Lieutenant Governor of California.

As Governor of California Charles Edward Lincoln III will challenge Barack Obama’s eligibility to hold Office of President of the United States of America. Charles Lincoln and myself will demand that Barack Obama provide the people of this country will a certified copy of original birth record. We will exhaust all remedies and powers that are afforded to the Governor of California in regards to challenging Barack Obama’s eligibility to hold Office of President of the United States of America.”

You have GOT to be joking!

    “InspectorSmith (15 hours ago)
We will be running as Republicans.
pportunity is upon us. I don’t know how to ask this in any other fashion other than to just ask in plain, straight to the point, English. Charles Lincoln and I (Lucas Smith) need financial contributions to run for the said Offices in California.

First are the filing fees for candidates.

    California Governor (2010) is $3,479.74.

California Lieutenant Governor (2010) is $2,609.80.”

    *HILARIOUS*

  14. Expelliarmus says:

I do believe that their mutual felony conviction records will disqualify them from running.

But it will be rather fun, if they actually file, if someone comes along and shows them the proper way by which clearly unqualified candidates may be removed from the ballot.

  15. misha says:

I just sent Berg my famous second version birth certificate.

Keep those cards and letters coming in.

  16. Texlaw says:

As will the requirement in the California Constitution that the candidates for these offices have been residents of the state for the previous 5 consecutive years. Felon Smith is from Iowa, IIRC, and Felon Lincoln is a resident of Texas (or so he asserts in some of his more recent mortgage scam pleadings). So neither of these birfoons meet the constitutionally mandated ELIGIBILITY. Ha!

  17. It would seem to me a good strategy for Orly Taitz to run for President, and if excluded from the ballot bring suit where she could attempt to gain publicity for her position by making a fundamental “fairness” argument: “If you checked me, why didn’t you check him?”

  18. bob says:

To their defense, the California Secretary of State believes those requirements violate the U.S. Constitution.

Maybe it is all a ploy to see if the SoS will investigate them, and then sue for not investigating Obama.

  19. G says:

Dr. Conspiracy: It would seem to me a good strategy for Orly Taitz to run for President, and if excluded from the ballot bring suit where she could attempt to gain publicity for her position by making a fundamental “fairness” argument: “If you checked me, why didn’t you check him?”

Of course, that could be her “strategy”, but as you well know, it is one that would quickly fail. All the SOS would have to answer is that:

    A) Her birth certificate shows that she was not born in this country and therefore is ineligible to run for POTUS under the constitution.

    and:

    B) Obama’s provided birth certificate from HI, which shows Honolulu, HI as birthplace is prima facie evidence, and therefore met and continues to meet satisfactory eligibility evidence for the office.

    ‘Nuff Said!

  20. Rick D says:

I’m not an Obama hater but I’m not stupid either. It doesn’t take a smart person to see that something is not right by the way the present government is going about this stimulus money and thier runaway spending spree that is driving this country into oblivion. The interest alone will be close to 1 trillion dollars and as Obama says ” you will know me by the people that I keep around me. All you have to do is a little bit of research to find out that most of the people around him are believers in Marxism

  21. G says:

    Wow, really Rick D? “Marxism”???

    Puh-lease. *yawn*

Instead of coming here to peddle stupid, meaningless hack talking points, why don’t you try to back up your silly name calling nonsense:

    1. Since you like to use the word, why don’t you explain to us what you think “Marxism” means. Do you even know what the definition is, or do you just like to spout “boogeyman-speak”?

    2. Who are these supposed “Marxists” he’s surrounded by and provide evidence that proves they are Marxists.

If you can’t do the above, then you’ve proved your full nothing but hot air and lies.

  22. misha says:

“All you have to do is a little bit of research to find out that most of the people around him are believers in Marxism”

    Thanks for the opening.

-Marxism: all business and social transactions are equitable.
-Communism: the dictatorship of the proletariat.
-Socialism: the workers own the means of production.
-Leninsim: from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.

Got it? Federal loan guarantees were started by Nixon, for Lockheed. Google it.

The foundation of Israel is the kibbutz, which translates as collective, and they prove that communism and democracy are not mutually exclusive. They are a raucous democracy. I know, I’ve been there.

When a bank loans anything, they can set whatever terms they want – sorry. When GM and Chrysler came hat in hand, they had to take what was dealt.

Israel was founded by eastern European socialists, who wanted to found an equitable society, where one Jew would not be socially superior to another. My wife was initially appalled by some of my beliefs, and my belief in plain living. She wanted a luxury car, and I said how about a Pontiac Grand Am. My last car was a Cavalier with a 5-speed.

  23. Mary Brown says:

Ricky, name them. I’m a teacher and I have a little quiz for you. What is dialectical materialism? If you cannot answer the question without looking it up you do not know what Marxism is.

  24. misha says:

“What is dialectical materialism? If you cannot answer the question without looking it up you do not know what Marxism is.”

Thank you. They make accusations, without knowing what they mean. Gotta watch out for those Bolshevik plots. Excuse me now, I’m going to a séance and talk with Trotsky – who was Jewish.
