Obama conspiracy fails to make Alter.net top ten list

Alter.net has published its Top 10 Right-Wing Conspiracy Theories list, and the birthers didn’t make the cut. Is this part of the conspiracy, to keep Obama conspiracies down? Here I thought I was doing a heroic job battling one of the biggest lunacies of the age, only to find out that it’s not even on the list.

According to the article, the importance of Obama’s election was not in creating new conspiracy theories, but in increasing paranoia among those enmeshed in existing theories. For them, Obama is only the incarnation of the New World Order, not its essence.

Today, hundreds of Patriot groups around the country are actively preparing for the declaration of martial law, some of them by mapping wilderness areas, learning how to set booby traps, studying and practicing guerrilla warfare tactics, and setting up short-wave radio communications systems. The question is not if, but when, the New World Order will come crashing down.

I guess the story that a baby was born in Kenya pales in comparison to the military bio-weapons program attacking the US with the avian flu or a national declaration of martial law.

One obligatory note: some of the conspiracies listed are not exclusively those of right-wing conservatives.

  1. FUTTHESHUCKUP says:

In your defense, Doc, it probably didn’t make the list because it’s not really a conspiracy theory. After all, there is direct, objective evidence that disproves the nutty claim that President Obama is not an American citizen. A conspiracy that can be debunked with that kind of evidence isn’t really a conspiracy anymore.

Compare it with the idea that Bush was involved in the 9/11. There is no direct, objective evidence that Bush can use to prove that he wasn’t involved that is comparable to President Obama producing a birth certificate from the state of Hawaii to prove he was born there.

Take some comfort in knowing that the fallacious birth certificate claim spawns the most delusional nutjobs of all who continue to believe that President Obama was not born in Hawaii even though they have seen conclusive evidence with their own eyes and simply choose to disbelieve it.

  2. obsolete says:

Good points FUTTHESHUCKUP, I would also add to the list the similar right-wing conspiracy about how Valerie Plame wasn’t a covert agent, but was merely a “pencil-pusher”.

    Evidence for:
    1. The CIA asked the Justice Dept. to investigate the unlawful exposure of a covert agent named Valerie Plame.
    2. U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald takes on the investigation, and confirms in a press conference that she was covert, and in the indictment of Scooter Libby she is referred to as a covert Agent.
    3. Valerie Plame testifies under oath to Congress that she was a covert agent.
    4. CIA Director Michael Hayden testifies under oath to Congress that she was a covert agent.

    Evidence against:
    1. Uh, she’s attractive and blonde and a magazine took her photograph!

Just like with the Governor of Hawaii and Health Director, the right-wing kooks tried to parse Hayden’s words even though he couldn’t have been any more clear.

I respectfully disagree. Sven Birthadoodle has “proven” (traditional definition of word optional) that there is a vast conspiracy behind Obama that involves the State Dpt, the entire Government of Hawaii, the CIA, the Social Security Administration, the Indonesian Government,Occidental College, the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, If i repeat something enough times you will believe it, the Kapiolani Hospital, the Kenyan Government, Punahou School, Air Kenya, the University of Chicago Law School, I have a huge penis, the Annenberg Foundation, Fox, I have a huge penis, the Congressional Black Caucus, I have a huge penis, the Illinois State Senate and the French.

  4. I saw what you did there, Lupin 😉

  5. Bovril says:

As per Lupin, the Obama “Conspiracy” relates to the smaller subset of Birfoons who KNOW he is a NWO/UN Commie/Fascist/Manchurian Candidate.

The majority are mistaken, deluded or incapable of articulating anything other than “WAHHHHHHH, THE SCARY BLACK MAN WITH A FURRIN NAME IS IN OUR WHITE HOUSE”. This is sad but not a full blown, self supporting, stand alone conspiracy theory.

What it is though is a strong connecting meme that ties tigether a number of other conspiracies such as the whole gamut of UN/Bilderberg/Soros/”Sovereign Citizen”/NWO/One World Currency/FEMA death camp/gun grabbing/Ebil Mooslem etc.

Obama, by his apparent nature, has facets that each of these loons can attach to and re-inforce their dysfunctional world view…..see he IS bringing people together….>8-)

You forgot the Selective Service, Columbia University, Harvard Law School, The Communist Party, the Lollipop League, and the Federation.

Also the Fighting Uruk-Hai, the Borg, Arnold Zeck, Stanley Armour Dunham’s bowling league, and the Elves, Leprechauns, Gnomes, and Little Men’s Chowder and Marching Society.

  8. Ellid says:

In all seriousness, something has been puzzling me for months:

Just WHAT civil liberties and Constitutional rights have Americans lost since Obama was inaugurated? The only change I’ve noticed is that my take-home pay is a bit higher thanks to the stimulus package tax cuts, and I got a whopping huge tax refund thanks to a credit for slapping a new roof on the Last Homely Shack East of the Manhan.

Other than that, NOTHING has changed. I can still worship, work, speak, read, and basically do as I see fit, and I would really like to know just what it is that I’m supposed to have lost as of January 20, 2009.

    Thanks.

By the way, I heard that Lupin has a huge penis. It must be true. I keep hearing it.

You know I heard the same thing about Lupin….And Ellid I am with you….I don’t know what so called liberties Americans have lost since Obama has been President….Perhaps Hello_Non-Reality or Joseph Maine-less can tell us….

  11. Bovril says:

Ahhhhhhh, but it’s all a plot to lull them into a sense of false security “Alinsky” style before we sweep them all up in one swift move and push them into FEMA camps for “processing”

    Keep up….8-)

Ooh, ooh, I know. They have been deprived of their inalienable right not to have a black president in THEIR White House doing things like, you know, touching stuff. Why I hear that in the 18 months he’s been there he has yet to mop a single floor or scrub even one toilet. He must be lazy.

Only when he’s in werewolf form.

  14. Lupin says:

And judging from their electoral “promises” re Social Security, health care, etc for November, the Republicans are telling their base (shorter version): “OK, we’ll take the n*** out if you vote for us, but it’s gonna cost ya.”

To think that they can even garner half of the votes is a sad testimony about the size of their electorate’s penises.

Not only that, he and his Communist wife and uppity children have been waited hand and foot by honest, hard-working WHITE PEOPLE in the WHITE HOUSE. It’s just not natural.

Note that there is nothing in the 2nd Amendment giving anyone a right to have ammunition. We have all these nutcases spending their weekends wasting what ammo they have. If they really thought things through they would “keep their powder dry”.

Nor does it mention giving any citizen the right to shoot anyone or anything but only to keep and bear arms (or bare arms as MOO would say).

Sorry Sef, The Supreme Court says FAIL.

The term is “Keep and Bear arms, the explicit understanding, as re-iterated extensively in both Heller and McDonald is that the requirement is functional not decorative.

Any attempt by government, local or national to restrict in that maner probably wouldn’t even get to District court before being kicked into touch.

If you have an issue with firearms, not a problem but as I have informed the Birfoons on a regular basis, the Constitution is not a Pick ‘n Mix, you get all of it all of the time. Don’t like one part, you have constitutionally guaranteed methods to repeal, until such time as you avail yourself of this, tough titty.

If you want to poke Birfers with pointy sticks when they ignore the Constitution and the law you have to hold yourself to the same standard.

Mississippi Middle School Segregates Student Government Officers: Only Whites Can Run For President

“With the election of President Barack Obama, the country heralded the coming of an age in which an African-American could overcome significant historical prejudice to ascend to the presidency. But while the country celebrates this collective step forward, a Nettleton, Mississippi public school is taking a clear step back. According to Nettleton Middle School’s rules, children running for certain class officer posts must meet a specific race requirement: to be president, the child must be white.

A school memo, obtained by MixedandHappy and The Smoking Gun, was passed out to every 6th, 7th, and 8th grader to inform them of the breakdown. The upcoming elections are divided between offices delineated for black and white students. Of the 12 offices for which students can compete, “eight are earmarked for white students, while four are termed black seats.” The presidency is reserved for white students across each grade, but a black student is permitted to be the 8th grade vice-president or reporter, the 7th grade treasurer, or the 6th grade reporter. So, along with a “B” average and “a good disciplinary status and moral character,” a child hoping to represent his or her class must be the right race:”…

And lo and behold, in breaking news . . .

Miss. school reverses race-based rules for student elections
Under former policy, blacks could not be class president

The school board in Nettleton, Miss., voted Friday to reverse its policy under which race determined whether a candidate could run for class positions, including president.
According to a memo sent home with students last week, African-American students could not run for class president in Nettleton Middle School this school year. However, the board voted at an emergency session Friday to drop that policy, according to Craig Ford, a reporter with the NBC News affiliate WTVA, who attended the meeting.
