Donald Trump’s birther advisor: Joseph Farah

According to a report on Politico.com yesterday, Donald Trump has been getting birther training and advice from Joseph (where’s the Birth Certificate?) Farah of WorldNetDaily. I recommend this article to my readers. Among the other interesting items, this one stood out to me for what it says about Joseph Farah’s modus operandi:

Farah has advised Trump to simply ask, “Where is the birth certificate?” The Donald’s recent claim that Obama’s grandma in Kenya is on record saying he was born in Kenya is just troublesome, Farah said.

“When you start making assertions and ‘grandma said,’” you start getting yourself in a bind,” Farah said. “I’m not sure that’s what grandma said. That’s fuzzy.”

Right, Joe, don’t let the facts get in the way of a good smear.

Farah is an interesting character, using misinformation that can be easily disproved.

  2. US Citizen says:

One would think that Farah doesn’t like Obama, but he probably loves him.
Farah’s made a lot of money from him.
Trump has now noticed this and is doing the same.

Just a couple of salesmen in the disinformation age.

On the bright side, it creates jobs for cartoonists and comedians.

Clearly this Farah clown has spent a lot of time trying to understand how to smear when you have zero facts and you KNOW you are wrong! Sounds like a a fine upstanding character with high morals. Right up there with lawyers and used car salesmen!

Why does nobody mention that Trump did this exact same thing 24 years ago and then again 12 years ago. This is nothing new for him. Not sure what conspiracy theories he used back them.

Trump could make more money by putting a wishing well in the lobby of each of his buildings.

I look at it like this-
Many great, age-old magazines have died.
    Several newspapers as well.
The internet has taken its toll.

But sitting at any supermarket checkout counter remains the National Enquirer, Star and other tabloids.
Still printing on paper. Still selling.

Normally Trump has had nothing to market via the internet.
With “The Apprentice”, he finally branched out into the media and discovered the lucrative money available through syndication.
This is new to him. He’s never had any reason before (except personal ego) to really use the media to any great degree.
(It’s hard to sell the same building to 3 million viewers, ya know?)

But here he can use that same niche that kept the Enquirer on the shelves while better magazines have fallen by the wayside.
Same gullible audience too, where research and other time consuming necessities are not required.
Farah and Trump therefore make great partners.
Farah has the web-based Enquirer thing down and Trump has a recognizable brand already established.
It’s a match made in ignorance heaven.

During an interview Friday on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, Trump stated “Look, he was born ‘Barry Soetero.’ Somewhere along the line, he changed his name,” said Trump. Soetero is the surname of Obama’s mother’s second husband, Lolo Soetoro, whom she married four years after Obama was born.
    .
Wow, what a coincidence, Obama was born with the same last name of the man his mother met 4 years later. Or maybe it isn’t a coincidence, maybe The Donald just pulled that out of his rear.

Does he know how stupis he is sounding?

  9. He knows exactly how stupid he is sounding. and because he’s rising in the polls, neck and neck with Huckabee, and above other, serious folks like Romney and Gingrich, he’s going to keep sounding stupid.

    MAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYbe.

it would be really creepy if that turned out to be the case, though. H. Ross. Perot creepy.

One of the key points always being brought up about why Trump would never actually run is because he doesn’t want to have to release his finanical records.

Well, looks like he’s going to conveniently now use birtherism as his excuse to not release them…

To follow-up on this, birtherism might be the perfect con game to both garnish an easily exploitable “base” of rubes willing to vote for him as well as to maximize his profit by extending his flirtation with running for president as long as possible.

As we say in my previous post, he’s now starting to set up using this as his perfect excuse to avoid financial disclosures.

Here’s a great article that goes into depth about how he can really milk this strategy and make it appear that he’s running for a very long time, yet delay releasing his financial records during that period:

    http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2011/04/19/trump_financial_disclosure_timeline/index.html

I recommend the whole article for reading, but here’s the end summary:

It appears a maximalist timeline for Trump would look like this: Refrain from calling himself a candidate but continue flirting with the idea of a candidacy and getting lots of free press; stay away from most or all primary debates; register as an official candidate around the turn of the year in order to seek ballot access in New Hampshire; request two 45-day extensions for filing his personal financial disclosure; and, finally, drop out before actually filing.

In other words, we could — in theory — be dealing with a Trump candidacy well into next year without ever getting a peek at his finances.

I think that it is much more likely that this is a publicity stunt on Trump’s part and that he has no concern whatsoever what damage is being done to the Republican brand (or he’s doing it on his own to hurt the Republicans [and get publicity]). It seems highly unlikely that President Obama would need to plant a birther candidate – it was inevitable in any case..
