Cold Case Posse domain expiration: second anniversary

Yes, it’s December 10 and the Cold Case Posse domain has expired yet again. I first wrote about these lapses December 9, 2013. It happened again and I wrote about it December 13, 2014. Like clockwork, it’s a new year, and they’re down once more.

Domain expired screen shot

The domain was renewed today (Updated Date: 2015-12-10T01:33:29Z) so I suppose it will start working again once the DNS propagates.

Sharon Rondeau takes note briefly in an article about something else:

“The Cold Case Posse’s website is down as of this writing [December 9] and has been hacked in the past.”

She’s right about that. The CCP web site was hacked back in 2013.

Update: They’re back up as of Dec. 14.

Once again, the Cold Case Posse website is down. It looks like the domain has not been renewed. What a Cracker Jack operation.

Looks like they do that on purpose. Nothing riles up the few remaining faithful like another slew of “MSCO site shut down by Obama?” articles.

  3. For the second year in a row this merited mention in the Post & Email speculating that the Obots hacked the website.

  4. The reason that we see these messages every year is that the Cold Case Posse lets the domain expire every year. One can see that because the domain was renewed today and will expire on December 10, 2016.

I wrote about the first anniversary of the expiration here:

Oh, that’s a shame that they renewed the URL. I’ve wanted to start a arctic-themed porn sight and “Cold Case Posse” was very close to the site name i was kicking around…

  6. Hehe. A really dastardly thing to do would be to renew the domain, and set the DNS servers to point to the actual MCSO CCP web site. Then periodically juice the domain pointer to something crazy for a few hours, and then switch it back.

  7. It looks like the reason the CCP site isn’t working is that the DNS is set to:

    Name Server: NS1.TEMPORARYSTATUS.COM
    Name Server: NS2.TEMPORARYSTATUS.COM

And those aren’t active servers. One can buy that domain for $1495 and then set up a DNS server and I presume drag MCSO.ORG around until they fix it. If the Obots were funded by George Soros, …

When I went to the registrar’s web site, domainpeople.com, it shows the domain still expired:

    | Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.domainpeople.com
    | Registrar URL: http://www.domainpeople.com
    | Updated Date: 2015-12-10T00:16:33.00Z
    | Creation Date: 2011-12-09T16:28:00.00Z
    | Registrar Registration Expiration Date: 2015-12-09T17:28:25.00Z

but Network Solutions shows it renewed:

    WHOIS Server:
    Referral URL: http://www.domainpeople.com
    Updated Date: 2015-12-10T01:33:29Z
    Creation Date: 2011-12-09T17:28:25Z
    Registry Expiry Date: 2016-12-09T17:28:25Z
    Sponsoring Registrar: DomainPeople, Inc.

If ‘crazy’ is the criterion, why would any switching be necessary?

  9. OK, try “embarrassing” … Never mind.

When a domain expires is there a grace period, or could anyone jump in and claim it before it is renewed?

  12. No, you can’t snatch it immediately. When the domain expires, it enters a “registrar hold” status, and later a “redemption grace period” that ends on day 75. After that it’s sort of up for grabs, although there are domain snatching companies you can hire to try to get the domain during the magic window when it enters the available pool.

I set up all my domains to renew automatically with a credit card on file, plus they bug the heck out of me months in advance.

Eight Years on the Melendres Docket now..

Wow! It’s not exactly steaming with Flashes of climatic hot action, but let’s not knock the resolve to go distance.

Arizona Tax Payers should be Proud? Perhaps some “pills for prolonged endurance- (aka. “SnowJobs” addvtz: help you last a lifetime. She be screaming “Are you done yet! Please, please, please get it over with!”), could off set tax payer expenses? Something?

Hey, that ZulloPPSimmons trust w Universe Shattering any day pales in comparison. That only lasted since 2013. 2 years.. in contrast to 8 Melendres years Makes Melendres look like an experienced “merry-go-round.”

Lemons and Limes must be squeezed for juicy reading material.. ?

  14. While the birther investigation cost the taxpayers next to nothing, the Melendres lawsuit is continuing to drain the coffers of Maricopa County, with a new property tax increase to pay for it. That includes both the County’s legal bills and the cost of the court-appointed monitor.

    Lemons wrote:

“The county’s Fiscal Year 2016 budget appropriation for Melendres is $23.8 million, a figure that does not include legal fees.

“So it’s safe to say that if the county did not have to keep forking out dough on Melendres, it may have been able to meet its fiscal obligations without raising property taxes.

“Ergo, your taxes are going up because of Arpaio’s policies.

“I should note, as I have in previous columns, that if you include the case’s expenses and legal fees from its start in 2008 through the end of fiscal year 2016, Melendres has made a $51.3 million dent in the county’s coffers.”

This bears repeating: Maricopa County’s taxes are going up, not because of Melendres, the other class members, the ACLU, Covington & Burling, or the federal government, but because of Arpaio’s policies.

The taxes are going up. Because. Of. Arpaio.

It would be interesting to know why they don’t renew it for more than a year at a time.

  18. Keith says:

I’m not sure why anyone, including Sharon, would notice.

Does she breathlessly log on every day in anticipation of something actually happening on the site?

Has there been anything new on that site for the last two years?

I mean, I really don’t know. I haven’t bothered to look at it ever, but I can’t imagine that there is a lot of activity on it.

More likely lack of cash: remember Zullo complaining that he couldn’t advance Monty money unless he could be sure he’d be reimbursed quickly? I think that means Zullo was getting fewer Paypal clicks than many of us thought.

SHURF JOE: Sam? Sam? I can’ts get into our goshdarn internet no more! Can you call IT?
SAMWISE THE HOBBIT: You mean your grand-nephew Diddly?
SHURF JOE: Yeah, that no-good lazy sonofa… He’s probably gettin’ all that porns again.
SAMWISE THE HOBBIT: I will –
SHURF JOE: Or maybe it’s that Obama fella again. Make sure you copy Zolus on the issue.
SAMWISE THE HOBBIT: Uh, what? Whom?
SHURF JOE: Y’know, that moustache fella with the crazy friend who’s been gettin’ all our money.
SAMWISE THE HOBBIT: Maybe accounting just forgot to renew the domain?
SHURF JOE: Who forgot to what the what now? Son, you gots to stop using them doggone techy words when you’re talking to me!
SAMWISE THE HOBBIT: [under his breath] The same procedure as every year. It’s Groundhog Day all over again.
SHURF JOE: It’s Groundhog Day? Why didn’t anybody tell me? Is there a parade? Am I invited? Danggit, Sam, you’re supposed to keep me informed of that kinda stuff going on.
    [beat]
What in tarnation is a groundhog, anyway? Is that some kind of Muslim holiday? I ain’ts goin’ on no Muslim holiday parade. I’ll be damned if I… [continues muttering to himself]
SAMWISE THE HOBBIT: [quickly slips out of the room as SHURF JOE pours a shot of coffee into his Bourbon]

  21. Curious George says:

    Speaking about Sharon….

She’s posted several articles about a Nohl Rosen in Arizona. He’s a pro law enforcement guy who travels to many police departments and stands outside alone with a flag and a sign showing his support for L.E. So I’m wondering, what attracted Sharon’s attention to this guy in Arizona and his solo, pro-police demonstrations? Then I ran across this article about Mr. Rosen running an Internet radio station for cats, by cats. He claims to be a servant to cats. He claims that the cats pick the music they like….

Sharon really knows how to pick them, doesn’t she?

Eight Years on the Melendres Docket now..

It would have ended (for all intents and purposes) in 2013 if Arpaio had complied with Judge Snow’s orders. Instead of complying, Arpairo decided to defy the Court by continuing his racial profiling, by his failure to cooperate with the court-appointed monitor, and by failing to turn over relevant records.

It is Maricopa County taxpayers who are on the hook for this. The Federal Court’s expenses are largely fixed expenses – Judge Snow and his staff would be getting paid their salaries even if there were no Melendres case.

The Maricopa County taxpayers have themselves to blame. They are the people who keep re-electing Arpaio.

  23. Curious George says:

    Rickey,
“The Maricopa County taxpayers have themselves to blame. They are the people who keep re-electing Arpaio.”

The “Joe” supporters have the same gullibility as Birthers. The Joe supporters actually buy into his media created persona. They just never expected that the bill would cost them millions. Idiots!

  24. They never use it so what’s the difference?
