Fuddy offed by flotsam?

Butterdezillion is continuing on her theme of a Loretta Fuddy murder or abduction with some still shots from ABC footage of the passengers in the water taken by Mr. Puentes. The stills that come from the sequence beginning around 3:30 in the Nightline video for just a moment show something that might be imagined to be a scuba diver wearing a raincoat and a big floppy hat, but in the whole sequence viewed in motion looks like debris. Certainly if it had been a real diver, there would have been a reaction from the people in the water, which there was not.

The way I look at these things is to download the video and then single-step with QuickTime (the arrow keys move by one frame).

Also in the video I found a young man wearing glasses and a pointed wizards hat riding a motorcycle.

Fuddy death ruled accidental

The Maui police released the cause of death for Hawaii Department of Health director Loretta Fuddy. She died due to cardiac arrhythmia as a result of stress following a plane crash, so reports station KITV.

This will of course not mean anything to the birthers, even though sudden cardiac death is the most frequent natural cause of death in the US.

It would be interesting to me to see how they specified the underlying and immediate causes of death. “Cardiac arrest” is the typical uninformative cause of death—everybody’s heart stops when they die. At least we didn’t get that. There is computer software to automate classification of underlying causes of death (MICAR2000, ACME and TRANSAX) and my former company’s software interfaced with those systems. The study of the classification of cause of death is called Nosology. Funny the things you pick up when you work with Vital Statistics.

An open letter to Jack Kelly

Jack Kelly is a writer for the Pittsburgh Press, and not a very good one. Yesterday he published one of those misinformation-laden smear pieces against Barack Obama that we more often see on tabloid internet sites and blogs. This one appeared at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, titled “Barack Obama’s past as murky as his word.”

I sent the author this letter and posted it as a reply to the article:

I was referred to your article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette titled "Barack Obama’s past as murky as his word" in which you say:
"Genuine documents confirm Mr. Obama was born in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961, said document expert Nick Chase. But the “long form” birth certificate the White House posted on the Internet April 27, 2011, is an obvious forgery, he said. Other document experts agree."

As written, the last sentence is yours, and it is false. No document expert has ever said that Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery. Some birther cranks with no background in document analysis have made easily debunked objections to the certificate, but no one qualified. On the other hand, half a dozen real professional document and imaging experts have found nothing wrong with it, including Krawetz, de Queiroz, Pex, Zatkovich, Broyhill and Colburn.

And if there were any further doubts, the Hawaii Department of Health says on it’s web site today: "On April 27, 2011 President Barack Obama posted a certified copy of his original Certificate of Live Birth" and links to what you’re calling a forgery. (

The second nonsense in your article is the adoption thing. Beyond the fact that the Hawaii Department of Health backs the certificate, the US State Department in the case of Strunk v. Department of State specifically denied that Obama had been adopted by his stepfather, and Obama’s attorney also denied this in a more recent case.

Finally, you make a total fabrication when you say "Unlike other recent presidential candidates, Mr. Obama has refused to permit release of his academic records from Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School." In fact I don’t know of ANY recent presidential candidate who released his college record. The records of George W. Bush were accidentally released without permission.

So in answer to your innuendo-laden questions:

  1. Obama didn’t release his college record for the same reason most other candidates don’t.
  2. Obama’s birth certificate isn’t a forgery except in the minds of nut-case conspiracy theorists
  3. It is not unusual for people to have social-security numbers from the wrong state series. The Social Security web site says that the "area number" was never intended to be a reliable geographic indicator. When Obama’s number was issued, the numbers were assigned centrally in the US based on the return address on the application. Mistaking a "0" for a "9" turns a Hawaii zip code into one for Connecticut.

Director Fuddy dies in plane crash

Loretta FuddyIt is with a profound sense of loss that I report the tragic and and untimely death of Loretta Fuddy, director of the Hawaii Department of Health, appointed by Governor Abercrombie in 2011 to succeed Dr. Chiyome Fukino. Fuddy was the sole casualty in a small plane crash.

Ms. Fuddy, 65, had a background in social work and had received numerous awards including ones for her work with children.

Orly Taitz puts herself in the middle of the story [link to Taitz web site]:

Press Release: Within hours after Attorney Orly Taitz published a press release of [redacted]’s “control” birth certificate showing the same evidence of forgery and backdating as Obama’s alleged birth certificate, which was certified as genuine by director of Health of HI Loretta Fuddy, it was announced that Loretta Fuddy was the only passenger to die in a small plane accident. Attorney Taitz calls on 8 courts and judges who received her cases to rule expeditiously on the merits and review the evidence of forgery and theft in Obama’s IDs before more people die in strange accidents

Other birthers respond at Birther Report:

★FALCON★ : No surprises there. Sometimes conspiracies are real – especially when Democrats are involved. In my opinion, this is the type of thing that will bring out even more people who will look into the Obama criminal empire … There is no such thing as coincidences.

Ed K: It would be interesting to know what kind of computer/file/email cleanup occurred in the last few hours as people mourn her death. same crew as the passport office cleanup, most likely

★FALCON★ : I wonder if Neil Abercrombie will be sleeping with one eye open.

thinkwell : Fuddy was involved up to her prematurely dead eyeballs in aka obama’s identity crimes

★FALCON★ : Interestingly, Gallups says the long wait is almost over and a co-conspirator is dead. You just can’t make this stuff up.

charlesmountain : Fuddy was gonna squeal…

Fault found with Fuddy’s financial facts–fraud?

The birther who blogs as Butterdezillion is the bane of all things Hawaii Department of Health, and one of her latest creations is a bad smell issued about Loretta Fuddy, the Director of the Hawaii Department of Health. She says Fuddy created a string of fake birth certificates renumbered to make a place to insert one she created for Obama.

The State of Hawaii requires financial disclosure from its top officials and the 2011 and 2012 disclosure forms from Fuddy are online:

Following the Birther Peter Principle, the birther digs into the details until they find something they don’t understand, and then declare fraud. Birther ecinck came up with the idea for a possible motive for Fuddy to fake the certificates. Here’s what Butterdezillion said in a Free Republic thread:

When it comes to the financial stuff I am a total moron

But she warms up to the fraud angle nonetheless. What they don’t understand is how Dr. Fuddy could buy an apartment valued at $500,000 and pay down some debt on her $100,000 salary.  Wow was it a payoff for making, as birthers claim, for fake birth certificates?

I’m not a total moron financially, and I can see that the financial disclosure forms do not provide much information about the official’s total assets. It only lists a few narrow categories. Nothing indicates new income associated with these two events.

Never mind the fact that the previous Republican director of the Department of Health, Dr. Fukino, said in an official statement that Obama’s birth records were already on file in accordance with state regulations. Never mind Hawaii’s Republican governor Linda Lingle said the same.

It’s just another excuse to stay in denial.

Onaka’s verification wording

imageBlogger Butterdezillion along with Mr. Hendershot have made a big deal about the wording of a series of verifications of the information on Obama’s birth certificate. One commenter here raised the issue succinctly.

Hermitian: The last sentence in SOS Bennett’s request for verification was:

“Additionally, please verify that the attached copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for Mr. Obama is a true and accurate representation of the original record in your files.”

Onaka was unable to verify this as fact. Instead he responded as follows:

“Additionally, I verify that the information in the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for Mr. Obama that you attached with your request matches the original record in our files.”

Birthers have focused on the wording of these three verifications, trying to find hidden meaning in what was not said, trying to make what was not said contradict what they clearly intended to say, but in a sense, Hermitian is technically correct. Onaka couldn’t verify the photocopy; however, this was because of the law, not because the photocopy isn’t an accurate image copy of the original.  The verifications are worded as they are because of the law governing such verifications:

§338-14.3  Verification in lieu of a certified copy.  (a)  Subject to the requirements of section 338-18, the department of health, upon request, shall furnish to any applicant, in lieu of the issuance of a certified copy, a verification of the existence of a certificate and any other information that the applicant provides to be verified relating to the vital event that pertains to the certificate.
