Birthers’ greatest video hits

Hey, I’ve added a “Video” page under the Bookmarks menu. I’d like suggestions on the most memorable birth videos from the past. The first one I placed was Mitt Romney saying that no one had asked him for his birth certificate. Preferably, suggest videos that won’t be deleted for copyright violations before the ink dries.

Palin flirts with birtherism at CPAC?

More background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Shoulda’ started with yours.

Our colleagues at ORYR (BirtherReport.com) think so, describing the previous quote as “Sarah Palin Goes Birther on Obama.”

I wouldn’t quite lay the birther mantle on her yet because of the context, which deals with associations, not place of birth. The longer version, which was related to the 2nd Amendment/gun control is:

[00:56] Background checks? I guess, to learn a little more about a person’s thinking and associations and intentions. More background checks? Dandy idea, Mr. President. Shoulda’ started with yours.

Albatross

Instead of the cross, the Albatross
About my neck was hung.

Coleridge’s “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” came into my mind when I read the Salon.com story about Orly Taitz trying to push her birther agenda into a meeting at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

What at one time appeared an expedient, has turned into a curse. American conservatives have a difficult coalition to keep together because the fringe on one side, such as birther Orly Taitz and her supporters repel more moderate elements. The fringe will simply not sit quiet while the grownups do their business.

Here we see the crowd “shushing” Taitz as she repeatedly attempts to turn the topic of conversation to her issues:

I am so glad that Orly is not my problem.

Heads up, kiddies: there’s money to be made!

Orly Taitz, president of her Defend Our Freedoms Foundation is offering a $1,000 reward for the best short documentary on the theme: “Where are the original IDs: Why judges refuse to order production of the original Obama’s IDs, when the copies were found to be forgeries???” [link to Taitz web site].

Given that DOFF has blown off two letters from the State of California to complete its registration, I have my doubts that any money bill be paid for any video by this group. I’m sure the Obots could make a great documentary explaining to Taitz and the birthers the answer to her question.

Old news: Futurama spoofed the birthers

imageSo, in case you didn’t see it, the Futurama cartoon series did a spoof of the birther movement last year in an episode titled “Decision 3012.”

In the 3012 election for President of Earth, Kenyan-born Senator Travers is challenged to produce his Earth Certificate, which he can’t do because although he was born at Our Lady of Patriotism Hospital in Kenya, it was in the future, and so his Earth Certificate doesn’t exist in the present. However, he was born during the election and his birth was shown on live TV, erasing any possible doubt as to where he was born from the public mind.

Netflix customers can stream it (Volume 7, Episode 3) and perhaps other services have it as well. The Wikipedia has a more extensive plot summary of the episode.

Thanks to a commenter who sent me the hint.
