Notes from the infectious disease ward

UPDATE: Orly’s site is entirely down now. [5 PM EDT, 2 July 2014]

UPDATE 2: It’s back up.

This the third day since Google again identified as an attack site, passing on malware to visitors. I take such warnings more seriously than I used to. Here’s a taste of what’s going on at the Taitz web site obtained through the browser on my phone.

Taitz continues to focus on immigration issues with this headline yesterday:

  • Response from Attorney Orly Taitz to Obama’s today’s speech: our immigration system is not broken, the only thing that is broken, is the path of neuron connections in Obama’s brain. Obama did not need to dispatch Biden to Central America to search for the cause of the problem, he had to dispatch himself to the nearest mirror

Taitz is praying for more Republicans to drive drunk in this item about Pete Perry who was quoted on this blog yesterday. The title of the article is:

  • As some of you may be aware by now, Hinds County GOP chair Pete Perry, a man that many believe is behind the shenanigans on June 24, was arrested for speeding and drunk driving this past Saturday night. Here is his mugshot. Hopefully there will be more pics like this in the future! We can only pray!

The People vs. Barack Obama

That’s the title of an yet unreleased book by Ben Shapiro. An excerpt from the book concludes:

RICO provides that any person who is part of an organization that commits any two on a list of crimes can be prosecuted for racketeering, fined up to $25,000, and sentenced to twenty-five years in prison per count. Those charges include murder, kidnapping, gambling, arson, robbery, bribery, extortion, dealing in obscene material, dealing in drugs, bribery, counterfeiting, embezzlement, …

A private individual bring a civil RICO action would have a title like, “Ben Shapiro vs. Barack Obama,” not “the People.” The idea of getting the president through a civil RICO action is not new. The most visible of those who tried it is Orly Taitz, whose case languishes in Mississippi federal court.

The problem with invoking the civil RICO statute is that in a civil RICO action, the one bringing the suit must be individually harmed by the criminal enterprise. A RICO lawsuit must pass the same hurdle as any federal lawsuit in proving individualized and specific harm, not a general grievance common to everyone.

So while the book may sell some copies, and may spur a host of crank lawsuits, I don’t think it will succeed in removing the President (something a court can’t do in the first place).

Breitbart News accuses NY Times of “going birther.”

imageSeeing how effective an epithet “birther” is, conservatives are lining up to use it, both here on this blog and nationally. In an article “NYT Goes Birther: Attacks ‘Canadian-born’ Cruz, calls him McCarthyiteBrietbart News directs the accursed “B” word at the Times. They said:

In what is known as a “tell” in the media parlor game, Weissman and the Times commit an unforgivable error by referring to Cruz as “Canadian-born” without mentioning he was born to a mother who was  a U.S. citizen, which most likely makes Cruz “natural born” and eligible to run for the nation’s highest office. Yes, just when the Texan shows some “muzzle velocity” toward 2016, the Times goes birther.

Me thinks that Brietbart protests too much. Indeed, the headline is just a teaser for a whiny article complaining that the Times has made some substantive criticism of Cruz. Mr. Lee and Mr. Bannon, it’s called politics in case you’ve been asleep for the past 8 years.

But why the demand for a full statement on Cruz’ presidential eligibility? What chance does a freshman Senator have becoming President? Uhhh. Never mind.

Breitbart News publishes list of Columbia College Graduates

Link to Columbia College story at Breitbart NewsAfter a shot heard round the Birtherverse concerning an old publisher’s brochure stating Obama was born in Kenya, Brietbart News has now taken on another cherished birther myth: that Barack Obama didn’t really attend Columbia  College. They found a public list of graduates from 1983. Was Barack Obama on it, and if so was he listed as the foreign student, Barry Soetoro?

Well, of course he was on it under his real name. Did I have to ask?

Contrary to some conspiracy theories, Obama was a student within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences–not the less selective, “nontraditional” Columbia University School of General Studies (which only merged with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 1990).

However, the conspiracy theory was never that Barack Obama didn’t graduate from Columbia; it was that he never attended Columbia, and that his degree was awarded as a favor to the CIA, because Obama was really in Pakistan funneling arms to the Taliban (which didn’t exist in the 1980’s) for the CIA.

This does shoot down the myth that Obama attended Occidental College under the name Barry Soetoro, because he transferred to Columbia, and his name is Obama there.

Commenters at Brietbart News are none too happy about the new “Vetting” of Obama series:

love the strategy, Breitbart gang . . .

1.  Post lots of stories about Obama’s birthplace.
2. Keep the media focused on everything but the economy.

Hey, works for me. And finally,

What is the evidence? A picture of a pice (sic) of paper? Is it unusual Obama is at the end of the list and not between names? What does this mean if it isn’t official? And who runs this site, doing an obvious disinformation job while posing under right cover? Why did this site claim the published biography is proof of only a mistake instead of what is more likely? Be very frightened of your country now that it has murdered so much for this secret!
