Arpaio: Can’t prove birth certificate fraud

Here’s an excerpted section from Arpaio’s July 31 interview at TruNews:

Bruce Walker: One last question, on the subject of your ongoing investigation of Mr. Obama’s identity issues. Is there anything new developing in that case?

Arpaio: Well, it’s not his identity. It’s the birth certificate, a document that we are convinced is a fraudulent document, government document. That’s all I’ve been launching an investigation, not where he came from, and we’re still working at that. When you have a crime, you like to know who committed it, so we’re still working it. It hasn’t gone anywhere. People think I dropped it, no—been working it for two and a half years, but you want to make sure you have the proper evidence.

Bruce Walker: There has been speculation that your team is close to identifying the individual who fabricated the birth certificate that was placed on the White House web  site.

Arpaio: You know, we have our ideas. I want to make sure we cross the t’s and be able to prove it. I know; I have my ideas. I can’t say it. I want to prove it. You know, we’re still working it; it’s not gone. We’ve come up with other sensitive situations that probably could be worse than the birth certificate, but once again, you gotta try to prove this—but nobody will take it anyway. I’ve talked to the whole world about having hearings and looking at this birth certificate. Nobody wants to talk. The media keeps covering up on it. I can’t believe this is happening in our country, that nobody wants to talk to us when we got evidence.

Bruce Walker: Do you foresee that the Department would issue a final report? Is there a possibility that there would be a referral to a grand jury for an indictment?

Arpaio: Well, we’re working on that. We’re trying to get somebody or some people interested in doing something, so a lot of options out there. But you know what? I’m the law-enforcing guy. I can’t prosecute. That’s up to prosecutors, or if Congress doesn’t want to look at it, should I turn it over to the Justice Department? I presume there would be a little conflict of interest there.

Bruce Walker: Pat Boone made a comment that he expects that some major announcement may be announced by September. Any possibility that this could happen by September?

Arpaio: Well, it’s the possibility. Really can’t… I’m not trying to play games, you know, this is a sensitive thing that we’re doing. I’m a sheriff, but I do have 30 years as a federal official in the Department of Justice, so I imagine I have a little credibility, not just some sheriff talking about it; I do have a background, and I guess we’re the only law enforcement agency in the United States that ever decided to look at this, or any law enforcement agency.

Bruce Walker: Well Sheriff, when you’re ready to make a statement, we will give you all the time you want to do it.

It sounds pretty much like what we have heard before except a confirmed possible for something in September.

Pat Boone predicts: Birth certificate fraud will be proven by September

Despite the blackout of birther coverage at the major conservative media outlets, notably the Fox News TV, liberals are all to happy to talk about it and give voice to prominent birthers, evidenced by the  recent interview of Pat Boone by Alan Colmes on Fox News Radio yesterday (June 23).

In a rambling comment, Boone predicted that something would happen by September, that a “smoking gun” would do something, but the actual verb eluded me. What follows is my transcript of part of the of the broadcast that differs in minor ways from what appeared on the Fox web site, and is extended in length:

imageBOONE: What I’m going to predict here is by September of this year, the major smoking gun, which is a high crime, not just a misdemeanor, but a high crime, that supposed copy of the birth certificate that is displayed on the White House website as we talk, by many experts has already been proven  to be not a copy of anything, of something perhaps that doesn’t exist, which is an actual birth certificate, but it is a Photoshopped fraud created to look like what they wanted it to look like. And I say “they” because I don’t think it was the President himself, but those around him, but experts who understand the techniques of these things, including a guy in my own office, who knows how things are Photoshopped, and knows the telltale signs of things that have been pasted onto other documents or other things, that it is obviously, to anybody that knows that process, a fraud. It is not a copy of anything, and that is a high crime.

COLMES: Are you saying this will be revealed?

BOONE: Yep.

COLMES: When?

BOONE: The evidence. I say by September.

COLMES: And what… And tell me how you know this.

BOONE: Well, I’m talking to some people that, you know, they are trained. I’ll say this that they are trained detectives and investigators. And I have been trying to get people in Congress to pay attention to these things and create .. That we shouldn’t have to be, us citizens, say “wait a minute, this thing doesn’t look real.”

Colmes then pushed back saying that the State of Hawaii verified Obama’s birth.

BOONE: There are trained investigators who are finding out, and I can’t divulge anything more, than I will make a prediction that by September of this year it will be proven that that is not the case. …

BOONE: It’s all going to come out, I think. It’s taken a while. It’s taken an awful long while. But, and I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but boy when you keep…

COLMES: But don’t you think you might sound like one?

In the full version of the interview, Boone brings out many of the usual birther shibboleths: sealed records, anybody can put announcements in the newspaper, wrong hospital name on birth certificate, etc.

Boone, however, is in deep denial when he says:

I’m not a birther.

While Boone isn’t very specific, it seems pretty obvious that he’s been talking to someone at the Cold Case Posse. What other “trained detectives and investigators” could it be? Boone has a longstanding connection with the Surprise Arizona Tea Party Patriots, and at one time was scheduled to appear at an event they sponsored, at which Mike Zullo was scheduled to speak. He appeared via Skype at a Surprise Tea Party Patriots event honoring Joe Arpaio (starting around 8:51 in the video). And if the CCP is feeding Boone inside scoop on the Posse timetable, one has to wonder why they are doing that, and one answer that comes to mind is that Boone is giving them money.

Surprise! Tea Party event flops

The Greater Phoenix Tea Party Patriots report that the birther celebrity event organized by the Surprise Tea Party Patriots, featuring Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Mike Zullo, singer Pat Boone, and disgraced Army doctor birther Terry Lakin. has been canceled due to inadequate sales of the modestly-priced $10 tickets. Unlike the canceled Birther Summit, refunds are being issued.

I think there’s something to be learned here, but I’m not exactly sure what it is. Birther public events flop. We have Carl Swensson’s march on the Atlanta capitol with maybe a dozen folks showing up. There was Berg’s big fling in DC that garnered a handful of curiosity seekers. The “King of the Birthers” Andy Martin maybe filled up a hotel room – two single beds. The Orly Taitz/Pastor Manning protest of Fox News in New York was a bust.

Birthers just don’t show up. I don’t know whether they are afraid that Obama will get them, or that there really aren’t more than a handful of committed (or maybe “not yet committed”) members of the birther movement. The number of people who watched the various birther court appearances were in the tens of thousands, but we don’t know if these were birthers or anti-birthers. Maybe birthers are too anti-social to congregate (this actually makes sense). Maybe most of the birthers are really institutionalized and can’t travel. Maybe the number of serious birthers is wildly overrated and birtherism is a web-only movement.

Birther Boone

Pat Boone, no stranger to right-wing and fundamentalist Christian causes, has come out of the closet: he’s a birther–”not one of those politically correct failed to condemn a birther types, but a full bore “Photoshopped birth certificate, millions to hide his records”, BIRTHER.

Various news sources have reported the story (which I wasn’t going to report thinking “well he would, wouldn’t he?” until it got so much coverage).

“I was in Kenya a year and a half ago and everybody said, ‘You know, he was born here,”’  Boone, a proud member of the Beverly Hills Tea Party told us last night.

Boone even had some new theories including that the “head of documents” for the State of Hawaii stated under oath that there was no long-form birth certificate on file (I presume he confused Tim Adams’s job in Hawaii).

Tea Party activist Boone, 77, made this declaration at a Tea Party meeting, recorded by The San Francisco Chronicle this past weekend.
