It’s Fox News, stupid

When asked by NBC News anchor Brian Williams why so many Americans believe our US-born Christian president is neither, former president Jimmy Carter laid much of the blame squarely at the feet of Fox News and Glenn Beck. Check out this clip:

Jimmy Carter: he obeyed the law, told the truth, and kept the peace. We never had a more decent or moral man in the White House.

Katahdin, Carter is also very smart, studied nuclear physics etc. but was portrayed as a bumpkin by the repubs.
I am honored to have met him at a book signing.

Not to mention the fact that his public service since leaving the White House has been nothing short of exemplary…

President Carter is a good and honorable man who has carved out a career of public service that is all but unprecedented in our history. We are lucky to have him, and I thank God for his witness.

I too had an opportunity to see former President Carter at a restuarant one time. He and his wife were amazingly gracious- he was having a burger and a beer by the way.

I think he was not a particularly effective President, but at the time the country needed a President with a strong moral compass- and he was certainly that man.

Let’s not forget the conspiracies surrounding his defeat by Reagan- The “October Surprise” where several members of Reagan’s crew negotiated with the Iranians to hold the hostages until after the election in exchange for military help against Iraq. History shows through the “Iran-Contra” scandal that Reagan’s guys did negotiate illegal deals with Iran including swapping for hostages. Former Iranian President Bani-Sadr testified about the pre-election deal to Congress.
Even more sinister if true, the rumors that Reagan’s crew leaked info about the rescue mission which was then sabotaged. Prime suspects include George H.W. Bush, and William Casey, who became head of the CIA.
There is much more compelling evidence that there is some truth to this than the conspiracy about someone faking a Hawaiian COLB. And, if true, it would be much more serious, approaching the level of treason that birthers claim Obama is guilty of, merely due to his dark skin.
