Obama uses birthers to attack Romney

A new campaign video from the Obama Campaign contrasts John McCain and Mitt Romney. McCain, it says, had the courage to stand up to the extremists in his party; Romney does not.

Republican leaders have said that birtherism is a distraction that plays in Obama’s favor. Apparently the President agrees. Watch the video:

Not much I can add. Rmoney is a gutless bully. The fact that he associates with Trump while hiding his own birth certificate raises very serious questions. Was he really born in Detroit or did his mother pop across the river to Canada to have him in Windsor, Ontario? Who knows? It certainly is a very plausible scenario, given that Canada is just a mile away from Detroit with a bridge and a tunnel and no passport required back then.

I bet the Rmoney campaign even employs high-priced lawyers. To do what exactly?????

  2. JPotter says:

It’s missing one big piece …. Romney with Trump. As presented, you have to take the ‘truth team’s word for it. Without that nail in the coffin, the ad does not, in and of itself, make a convincing case.

(If I missed it, I welcome the inevitable correction!)

  3. Bob says:

Romney’s story is teeming with conspiracy fodder for some young smear merchant who is more interested in making a few bucks than the truth. I can think of all sorts of “questions” off the top of my head. I’ll leave it at that.

  4. Thrifty says:

Maybe so, but at the end of the day, Mitt Romney is still white, and a Republican, so the story just doesn’t have legs. You would need an older and more accomplished smear merchant to get it started.

  5. Thrifty says:

I kinda wonder how it’ll play with independents and Democrats who don’t follow Birtherism if Obama plays this hand too hard. Like, is there this risk that they’ll be like “Birthers, who gives a crap about those guys? Are they even still around? Get back to the issues and quit playing games!”

  6. Daniel says:

I suspect Obama is using it, not to convince the independants, but to rile up the birthers. Obama wants loud birthers, because they embarrass the GOP

  7. CarlOrcas says:

Donald Trump took the bait….hook, line and sinker…..today on CNN.

The told Wolf Blitzer the conspiracy goes back to 1961 when the birth annoucements were placed in the Honolulu papers.

  8. You may be on to something. The birthers have arrived in full birthy attire on the Obama Campaign YouTube channel.

Daniel: I suspect Obama is using it, not to convince the independants, but to rile up the birthers. Obama wants loud birthers, because they embarrass the GOP

  9. Bob says:

If Romney were a Democrat, Corsi would be writing articles like:

Romney, a Mormon, has stated he has three homes. Does that mean three separate households? What does that really mean?

And look at these three photos of “Ann” Romney — can we be sure those are the same person in all three photos? Can we be really sure?

Romney says that his wife has two Cadillacs. Have you ever heard of one person driving two cars?

  10. misha says:

That is exactly correct. The angrier the birthers become, the greater mistakes Trump will make.

Just wait. Trump is going to torpedo Romney. It will take a few weeks, but it’s coming. Romney will not stand up to the crazies. Big mistake.

  11. Bob says:

    It’s a lose-lose situation for Romney.

And didn’t Trump already disavow the mythical two-citizen-parent-for-president-only rule as it would make two of his own children second class citizens?

The Birthers on WND don’t seem exactly thrilled by Romney’s wimpy embrace of Birtherism anyway.

Trump continues to insist the “Certificate of Live Birth” President Obama released in 2008 is not the same thing as his own “birth certificate”.

In a statement released, Trump says:

“A ‘birth certificate’ and a ‘certificate of live birth’ are in no way the same thing, even though in some cases they use some of the same words.

One officially confirms and records a newborn child’s identity and details of his or her birth, while the other only confirms that someone reported the birth of a child. Also, a ‘certificate of live birth’ is very easy to get because the standards are much lower, while a ‘birth certificate’ is only gotten through a long and detailed process wherein identity must be proved beyond any doubt.

If you had only a certificate of live birth, you would not be able to get a proper passport from the Post Office or a driver’s license from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Therefore, there is very significant difference between a ‘certificate of live birth’ and a ‘birth certificate’ and one should never be confused with the other.”

Where do these clowns get this nonsense that you “can’t get a driver’s license or a passport” with a certificate of live birth? I’ve obtained passports for myself and my children with the certification of live birth. Do they just make stuff up as they go along?

  14. Yes, they do. Or another way to look at it: they start with the premise that Obama is [insert bad thing here] and then use that to justify of whatever imaginary fact they need to support [insert bad thing here]. I call it looking through the telescope through the wrong end. But they really believe this stuff; they’re not being disingenuous. (Except for Apuzzo)

He’s never had to deal with any of this in years.

I’ve never gotten a passport through a post office. I got my first one directly from the San Francisco Passport Agency before they started only taking expedited requests in person save special passport days. Even with my kid, we got that through an acceptance facility that wasn’t a passport.

Besides that, most state agencies don’t care. I never used a birth certificate to get my driver license. You can do that with any number of different docs, including a US passport or a green card if one is a permanent resident.

  16. Line in the Sand says:

Obama better do more than that.

He should get more lawyers and a fake passport to go with that b.c. and look for some property in Tibet.

  17. Don’t be silly. Barack Obama has traveled internationally since a child. He has a perfectly valid US Passport.

    See, for example:

He has no idea how deep this conspiracy is. It goes back further than 1961. It goes back further than the Rift Valley Railway. It goes back at least as far as the construction of the Mayflower! Birth certificates and birth announcements are all just part of the distraction. But the conspiracy to place Barack Obama in the White House goes back centuries and has billions of people in on it. Except for a few Tea Party Faithful, every man, woman and child for generations has been part of the scheme or persuaded to look the other way.

  21. Horus says:

McCain only did it once and it was not to the person whom he needed to do it to the most: Sarah Palin.

When she said Obama pals around with terrorists, McCain should have said something then.

Romney is actually married to Triplets! and has three households for his three wives.

Do you mean when McCain pointed out that Obama could not possibly be “an Arab”, as opposed to “a decent family man?”

Don’t bother applying to be on “Are you smarter than a fifth-grader?” Not only does he have a Passport, it is stamped “President of the United States.”
