Fact Checking Orly:

Orly Mascot

Orly Mascot

Quote by Karl Marx

A quote ascribed to Karl Marx has been popping up a lot lately:

“Owners of capital will stimulate the working class to buy more and more of expensive goods, houses and technology, pushing them to take more and more expensive credits, until their debt becomes unbearable. The unpaid debt will lead to bankruptcy of banks, which will have to be nationalized, and the State will have to take the road which will eventually lead to communism.”

–” Karl Marx, 1867, Das Kapital

I suppose the reader is intended to see the current economic situation mirrored in the quote and then believe that we are plunging into the trap set for us by communists.

She’s right that it’s been popping up a lot. I found almost 6,000 references to it on Google. None of them, however, were from the text of Das Kapital. The quotation is a fake. Orly doesn’t exercise discrimination between fact and hoax either on her blog or in her lawsuits.

  1. Obot 1024 says:

Can someone translate this Orly post into English?

“Today AP reported amongst the top stories a right to “bare acmes”. No, they haven’t been talking about the second amendmsnr and BO’s grat for power and his push to limit our right to bear arms, his treachery in having provision in the stimulus to take the command over the National guard from the states and the millennium project, in subjugating our military to the UN, that is largely comtrolled by the Saudis. No, they didn’t talk about any of that. they were talking about the sleeveless dresses of Michelle Obama. Only comes to tell you how dumb or corrupt or both our MSM is. we need a new media. If you are an investor or have experience with TV or radio communications, please contact me”

  2. richCares says:

She is asking for help in her fund raising drive, as donations are dropping off, poor girl! Her fans flow with the buzzwords she shouts as they really don’t understand her either. Berg also screaming for funds, maybe a few sanctions can be useful.

  3. Ian Gould says:

    No it’s just her megalomania.

After she overthrows the US government she’s going to singlehandedly create a new media empire.

Then she’s probably going to irrigate the Sahara with nuclear-powered desalination plants and build a spaceship to go to Mars.

  4. It’s pretty garbled, but it looks like the AP put out a story on Michelle Obama wearing a sleeveless dress.

Orly thinks the mainstream media should instead be reporting on some her fantasies about Obama taking control of he national guard, limiting the 2nd amendment, and putting the US military under UN control.

In Orly’s defense, if I had to say that in Russian, it would be much more incomprehensible than her English.

  5. Bob says:

Also in Taitz’s defense, she did preface the quote with, “Attributed to Karl Marx,” and some commenters did note there’s no evidence the quote appears in “Das Kapital.”

  6. myson says:

you know alot of her fans are very knowledgeable in communist propaganda, one would think they spend alot of there time preparing to be communitised or are they already communist socialist.
Pple with such knowledge are pratically communist themselves

  7. Chris says:

Damnable bare acmes! As a side note, you know it’s going to be a fun blog post when it’s titled ‘Fact Checking Orly’. An alternate title could have read ‘Shooting Fish in a Barrel’.

  8. mimi says:

who started using that owl for orly? I had to look that up. I don’t know all the computer acronyms. O RLY? means “Oh Really?” And… all the sudden it’s used for Orly. Though… it fits.

  9. The owl appeared on Orly’s old blog and was labeled “Our mascot”. I assume the reader is supposed to see the title above, “Natural born citizen,” with the bird’s response “Oh really?” I take it in a more ironic way, since Orly Taitz herself is not a natural born US citizen. I like to use the image from time to time next to what Orly says to ask “Oh, really?”

  10. Bob says:

And then there’s this: Two U.S. Attorneys Signed Stipulation On Demand For Information.

First, one assistant USA signed off, not two U.S. Attorneys.

More importantly, the title implies the U.S government has agreed to honor Taitz’s discovery requests.

A little research into Touhy reveals just about the opposite is true. The Touhy regs give the DOJ the authority to review the request and then decide if it wants to comply, as Touhy basically took away the state courts’ power to hold federal officials in contempt for not complying with a state subpoena.

  11. Bob says:

And this: Aren’t you tired of lying main stream media? Time for a new media.

It is a reprint from an article by the Council of Conservative Citizens.

And who is a sponsor of CoCC? Why, a white pride organization.

Taitz’s site is two clicks away from a racist site.

    Stay classy!

  12. George Orwell III says:

    fwiw…

This is the best lead I could find to source the faux Marx quote.

  13. thisoldhippie says:

I’m trying to read through this. Just how many times is she going to regurgitate the same misrepresentations and just plain lies? How many times do her facts and evidence have to be debunked before she finally stops??

    http://defendourfreedoms.us/2009/03/08/dossier-of-suspected-criminal-activity-and-a-demand-to-appoint-a-special-prosecutor.aspx

  14. What I want to know is whether Orly Taitz is now or ever has been a member of the Communist Party.

  15. Bob says:

    Scrubbed!

  16. Expelliarmus says:

Orly does seem to share a desire to see the collapse and breakup of the various states with former KGB analyst Igor Panarin. I find it intriguing that a Russian emigre is working so hard to sow the seeds of dissension. See: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123051100709638419.html

  17. nbc says:

    Hope you saved a copy

  18. I could envision a satirical article suggesting that Orly was really a former KGB agent, now a saboteur for Russia. She is calling for a revolt in the armed forces, a civilian militia and a new government.

When I went looking on Russian-language web sites for “Orly”, every definition I found included a citation from a Communist poet, Mayakovsky.

By the way, I updated Orly’s bio here to include the Russian version of her name and an excerpt from the poem “Left March!”

    Dr. Orly Taitz (Орлий Тайц).

  19. I missed it. Is it a copy of this from the Hal Turner show?

    http://halturnershow.blogspot.com/2009/03/notice-to-unorganized-militia.html

  20. Expelliarmus says:

Well, I personally am not one to get all lathered up over that sort of thing… but the idea of a KGB sleeper agent or a mole tasked with fomenting dissent is not all that far-fetched. From the standpoint of the former-KGB folks who are now in charge in Russia, anything that weakens the US influence on the world stage is useful.

    Stranger things have happened.

  21. Bob says:

    Yes.

Hal presently has a poll on the best method on how to kill a federal reserve board governor, and this quote, “I advocate killing liberals. The more the merrier; the sooner the better!”

But, hey, the birfers are just respecting the constitution.

  22. Ian Gould says:

I think Orly needs to publish her birth certificate; immigration papers and passport records on the internet.

After all if she has nothing to hide she should be happy to do so, right?

  23. Ian Gould says:

    http://halturner.freepolls.com/cgi-bin/pollresults/027

“Forget trying to communicate, Kidnap them, torture them, then stick them in an oven like Hitler did to the other thieving Jews (249)”

So 35% of the people voting on a poll on a birfer site think the US ed is run by a bunch of “thieving Jews” who should be dealt with by emulating the tactics of Hitler.

I guess pointing that out constitutes race-baiting.

  24. Bob says:

    Irony alert!

Taitz reposts the WND article, “Wikipedia scrubs Obama eligibility.”

I would post a rebuttal there, but I’ve been banned.

  25. mimi says:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_Conservative_Citizens

“The Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC) is an American far-right organization that supports a large variety of conservative causes in addition to white nationalism and white separatism.”

And, let’s not forget she links to Hal Turner as well. She’s nuts.

  26. Bob says:

But don’t call her a racist just because she approvingly reposts articles from racist sites!

  27. Bob says:

It must be Irony Day. Taitz reposts a speech Tiger Woods gave at the inauguration.

What’s her source? Snopes.com! The very same site that can’t be relied upon by senators when politely brushing off questions about Obama’s eligibility.

  28. Bob says:

    Fainting Goats for Freedom.

The comments have a bonus link to this thread on Yes to Democracy.

  29. I would post a rebuttal there, but the comments are closed. The fact of the matter is that the Barack Obama Wikipedia article has been vandalized as has the article about James Farah, editor of WorldNetDaily. Both pages are under some degree of protection. However, the article discussing Obama’s eligibility is alive and well here at:

  30. thisoldhippie says:

When an attorney has this many mis-spellings, bad grammer, etc. it makes you wonder who their clients could be! (That’s not even taking into consideration the ridiculousness of the post itself).
    http://defendourfreedoms.us/2009/03/10/meeting-with-scalia-and-coordinated-cyber-attack.aspx

  31. thisoldhippie says:

I also love the way she declares this a “meeting” when in fact she pounced on him at a seminar and book signing. Sounds to me like Justice Scalia was just pooh-poohing her to make her go away.

  32. Bob says:

Yes; much in the same way Senator Kyl suggested reading snopes.com; “Have a nice day; buh-bye!”

I’ve got a great line for this one, but I’m saving it for tRSoL.

  33. Ian Gould says:

Reading the blog entry on the meeting with Scalia leads me to suspect Orly suffers from clinical paranoia.

Look at the way she attributes computer problems to sabotage and seizes on reports of an accident with H5N1 influenza virus to claim Obama may be planning to cause a global bird flu epidemic.

If 1/10th of the nonsense these people believe about Obama were true, they’d have been dead months ago.

  34. She copies a lot of this from WorldNetDaily.

  35. GeorgetownJD says:

She also copies a lot of her posts from white supremacist/nationalist sites. Orly clearly does not discriminate concerning the source of material for her rants. So long as it bashes Obama, she will copy and paste it.

  36. Bob says:

Please; Taitz is just respecting the constitution. It is a mere coincidence that she also loathes Obama!

  37. I_Heart_Unicorns says:
  38. NBC says:

ROTFL, yes, she did it. But what is ‘it’?

  39. NBC says:

At one point during the audience question period, Orly Taitz, a woman from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., said she had documents proving that President Obama was not born in the United States and thus could not be president. While audience members laughed, she said she had half a million signatures of people demanding the Supreme Court hear the matter.

Roberts cut her off by saying that if she had documents with her, she should give them to security officers. He also said he could not discuss the issue.

  40. NBC says:

    I love this one

Why are you afraid to tell this arrogant jerk from Africa and Indonesia– You need to go home, you cannot be a president and commander in chief because you are not a Natural born Citizen. To be a Natural born Citizen you have to have both parents as citizens. Your father was never a US citizen and you don’t qualify and you also spit us in the face by refusing to unseal your vital records. There is no proof that you are even a citizen. For all we know, you need to go back to Kenya and wait for your green card, and that after we try you for all the crimes perpetrated upon American citizens.

Seems clear to me what her feelings are about our President.

  41. Bob says:

The part about her missing her children is sad. Wasted opportunities for absolutely nothing.

  42. It’s interesting how different people can interpret the same events in very different ways. Stay tuned for a season of speculation at OrlyVille.

  43. And now Orly declares that Roberts has promised to read all her documents! What will be, will be.

  44. I_Heart_Unicorns says:

it’s also great that 350k signatures is rounded up to “half a million”. I wonder how many duplicates of ‘patriot’ , ‘heavy’ and I_Heart_Unicorns there are.

  45. awe_and_shock says:

BORAT is posting as Robert R. Sewell Sr.

“Now attention please to Dr Taitz and her advisory people to read more of FEC Laws and Rules. there are some that Obama had violated FEC Laws and Rules !!. That is why I am asking to ORLY please attention WHY DIDN”T FEC GRUOPS ARREST OR PROTESTED Obama and his people also agaisnt VP BIDEN did violated too !. Biden knew along with laws and rules just because he knew FEC and other Government as “SLEEPERS AND DEAF”. THAT IS BAD EXAMPLES TO THE VOTERS !!.
Second: TV FOX NEWS reported this morning that OBAMA set up his own CAMP ARMY, those people are counting populations all over USA. THAT is ILLEGAL !!!. THAT IS NOT HIS RESPONSIBLE JOBS to do that !. Every States in America has their own COUNTIES COMMITTEES RESPONSIBLE JOBS which Congress’s LAWS to get FUNDS from U.S. Government. Each Counties will hire their county people to do this jobs fir every ten years to keep up the American Populations. WHY did Obama took and established his own “camp army “??. That is strange things what is going and what is up in mind why Obama want this kind counting census ?.”

  46. Cymraeg says:

If anyone needs to go anywhere, it is Taitz, back to россия.

  47. Cymraeg says:

    Another русский heard from. lol

  48. Gordon says:

You said Fox News and “reported” in the same sentence, a real oxymoron.

  49. thisoldhippie says:

Why do they continue to post inaccurate information?? It is as if they cannot comprehend that so much of what is listed here has been debunked:

    http://wethepeoplecolorado.com/blog/?p=99

  50. BlackLion says:

It is because they recycle the same info and forward the same e-mails believing that is is fact. For instance if you go to other birther sites you see the same info. What I like the best is how they state that they didn’t post any SCOTUS ruling favorable to Obama because there are none. I guess they forgot or missed the SCOTUS rulings in Wong Kim Ark and Perkins v. Elg cases. Or the 14th amendment. These people are pathetic.

  51. thisoldhippie says:

They are pathetic, but they are also scary because people with such low intelligence, lack of education, fear, and bigotry often turn to violence when they feel they are not being heard or taken seriously.
