Senate candidate Hayworth backs off birtherism

Rep. J. D. Hayworth

“To bring up a topic and to talk about it is not the same as endorsing a point of view.” J. D. Hayworth

Former Arizona congressman, former Greenville SC sportscaster, and current Arizona Senate Candidate ended his dalliance with birtherism at a news conference yesterday, according to a report on CNN. He said that he believes Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, is an American citizen, and is President of the United States.

Hayworth lost his House seat to Democrat Harry Mitchell in 2006.

Another article of misinformation over at WND….It first discusses the governor of Michigan who was born in Canada running for President…

    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=125858

“Your two terms are up at the end of this year. Do you have any interest in moving here to Washington and working in the administration?” he asked.

“Are you offering me a job? No, I …” she said.

“Yes, because I’m a conduit for the Obama White House. Exactly,” Wallace joked.

“No, I’m totally focused this year on creating every single job I can until the last moment,” Granholm said. “December 31st at midnight is when I’ll stop. So I have no idea what I’m going to do next, but I’m not going to run for president. I can tell you that.”

“Wallace then pointed out that she would be unqualified to run, anyway. “We should point out Gov. Granholm is a Canadian and cannot run for president,” he said. “I’m American. I’ve got dual citizenship,” Granholm corrected him. ”

At the Radio Patriot, radio host Andrea Shea King said, “Granholm’s response is indicative of the mistaken belief that because one of her parents is/was a U.S. citizen, she’s eligible.”

“This woman took an oath to uphold the Constitution. Has she even read it?” King wrote. “With this willful disregard of our founding document, is it any wonder that we have the son of a Kenyan-born British subject in the White House???” she asked.”

Of course everything is Obama’s fault…But of course WND can’t leave any issue regarding Obama there….

“Key to the arguments over Obama is the fact his original long-form birth certificate never has been released. A second significant factor is the multitude of documents that Obama has kept from the public.

Besides his actual birth documentation, the still-concealed documentation includes kindergarten records, Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, his files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records, and his adoption records.

Thirdly, another significant factor is the estimated $1.7 million Obama has spent on court cases to prevent any of the documentation of his life to be revealed to the public.”

The “certification of live birth” posted online and widely touted as “Obama’s birth certificate” does not in any way prove he was born in Hawaii, since the same “short-form” document is easily obtainable for children not born in Hawaii. The true “long-form” birth certificate – which includes information such as the name of the birth hospital and attending physician – is the only document that can prove Obama was born in Hawaii, but to date he has not permitted its release for public or press scrutiny.”

Yet Farah has never questioned where the President was born. I guess it is just his website that does it. But what is more amazing is that over a year later we still have WND pushing the same discredited information. Amazing…

WND Ratchets Up War on Glenn Beck
    Topic: WorldNetDaily

Earlier this month, WorldNetDaily began lashing out at Glenn Beck for ridiculing birthers (like WND editor Joseph Farah). WND has been stepping up the battle in recent days.

Farah penned yet another column on the issue on Feb. 17, complaining that “From Glenn Beck to Andrew Breitbart to Conservative Political Action Conference organizers to social climbing bloggers with little actual audience, some of the right have becoming increasingly hostile to continued calls for Barack Obama to release documents that would prove his eligibility and provide the transparency he promised with regard to his travels, health history, schooling, etc.” Farah again lies that all he cares about is “pursuit of the truth without fear or favor.”

This was followed by a more direct Feb. 22 attack on Beck, which carried the headline, “Meet kinder, gentler Glenn Beck: New ‘global warming’ believer?” It summarizes a USA Weekend interview with Beck in which he said that he supports the idea of global warming and “thinks it could be caused partly by man’s activity.” Perhaps even more unforgivable in WND’s eyes, “Beck’s personal publicist, Matt Hiltzik, is a Democratic power player who helped get Hillary Rodham Clinton elected to the U.S. Senate.”

WND seems to be unaware that this link to Hiltzik was revealed months ago — last October, by the Washington Post. We don’t recall WND mentioning it then. Of course, Beck hadn’t yet violated WND’s sensibilities by criticizing birthers.

As WND alienates its pool of supporters one by one — not to mention any journalistic credibility it has left — with its Javert-like pursuit of Joseph Farah’s new Vince Foster, you have to wonder how this can be a sustainable business model. Farah will have to hoodwink folks into buying a lot of birther trinkets in order to make this venture worthwhile.

Too late for Hayworth; Weigel reports on a McCain campaign ad starring Berg and Taitz.

That’s too sweet, but I still hate McCain.

The birthers are not done yet!

Watch this new video, this birther (jonah) still
think there is something “fishy” about Obama’s BC and that the government is “hiding” something from us! lol!

  7. Black Lion: Of course everything is Obama’s fault…But of course WND can’t leave any issue regarding Obama there….

I find it hugely annoying that WND doesn’t seem to be able to print anything about Obama’s eligibility without dumping reams of repeated innuendo at the end.

the majority of the work i do is in promotions and advertising and, altho i love the birthers being used as a negative in an ad for a right(esque) candidate……. it’s a pretty crappy generic political ad. scary music, doom and gloom, bad photos of unsavory characters ( and opponent ) black pauses with white industrial font ….. then….. pop… our guy in great lighting with upbeat/inspirational music, softened serif fonts, dramatic “look up into the nothing” ( with “navy” cap ) and dramatic vague catch phrase. that being said…… the biggest question is will it be effective. if it is…….. plan on right and left jumping on the SlamBirther Express. if it fails……… ?????

  9. BlackLion says:

Agreed…But that is part of Joseph Farah’s MO in order to keep the donations rolling in…

  10. Scientist says:

In fact the exchange shows that the birthers lack even the rudimentary reading and logic skills of the average 5th grader. Granholm did not claim she is eligible to run for President; rather she corrected the statement that she is a Canadian to point out that she is a dual citizen. If she were solely a Canadian citizen and not a US citizen as well, she would have been ineligible to be Governor.

By the way the cases of Granholm and Schwarzenegger point out the essential idiocy of the natural born citizen clause. Can anyone defend how it makes sense that 2-term governors of 2 of the largest states (whether you like them or not) cannot run for President while Paris Hilton can? Does anyone seriously think that was the intent of the Founders?
