Terry Lakin fundraising site

The Terry Lakin Action Fund (TLAF) seems to be running full bore, with a web site and TLAF Radio. This site describes itself as a “family trust” and the only fund authorized by the Lakin family.

Read the Lakin PRISON DIARIES! Get the T-shirt!! Set up automatic billing!!!

My husband is going to prison because of Barack Obama’s birth certificate. I’m sure you agree that’s a heavy price to pay for standing up for what is right.

Pili Lakin, MD.

Myriad wisecracks come to mind, but it would be like shooting fish in a barrel.

My childhood was spent in the Borscht Belt, and my first intership was spent reading “Variety”:

Lakin’s lousy lawyer – prison pad prepared.

    Lakin bombs with birthers.

    Lakin leaves for Leavenworth.

Lakin pleads for pennies – brings in bupkis.

  3. misha says:

    My apologies to “Variety”:

    Lakin lays an egg.

I wonder if Mrs Lakin actually has anything at all to do with this?

Excuse me, I was just rolling on the floor.

  6. Reality Check says:

Meanwhile, I have read through the Safeguard Our Constitution site and they seem to have no connection with Lakin at all now even though the entire site is about Lakin. They were the original pro-Lakin site. They do not even link to the Terry Lakin Action Fund page and the donation page says “Support the Foundation – Please consider supporting the foundation’s communications efforts.” Communications efforts? In other words, help us push our anti-Obama propaganda with your “tax deductible” contribution.

I’d have more sympathy for her if it didn’t say MD next to her name.
In fact, I’d gladly trade her financial situation for mine.
Lakin will be out in a few months anyway and will surely peddle his story of “persecution” to anyone willing to pay.
He’s lost a very cozy retirement package, but in no way do I think the Lakins are going to endure much real financial hardship.

This entire fiasco is really no different than a guy who went to Vegas and lost his shirt.
Blaming Obama is just as dumb as blaming a casino.
No one told him he had to gamble.
It was his decision and he lost. Boo hoo!

Why don’t you do the same?

If nothing else your conscience will thank you once Obama’s cover is removed. Has it ever dawned on you that you might be supporting the wrong side in the eligibility debate?

I have no such qualms – even if Obama told the truth – I am still supporting the just cause: election process transparency.

I seriously doubt you are “donating” to the Lakin fund….It is just another jab at the President because somehow in your delusional mind you feel that the supporting the seditious Lakin will bother the President in some way. Notice that since his guilty plea and conviction, that he is no longer a newsworthy story. That is because no one really cares about a cowardly doctor that deserted his unit and fellow soldiers….

Last night I watched the the documentary: The Most Dangerous Man in America about Daniel Ellsberg. Some of you may not be old enough to remember Ellsberg, a military planner who learned that US presidents had been lying to the country, and to the Congress about the Vietnam War. He tried to give the information to members of the Senate but without effect. He finally gave the top secret-classified documents to the New York Times, who published them. Ellsberg consciously leaked this information knowing full well that he had violated the Espionage Act and would surely go to jail, perhaps for the rest of his life (the charges eventually filed could have resulted in a sentence of 115 years).

One never heard him looking for sympathy for his wife and two children, or whining that the government was out to get him (they were). His heroic action led to the end of the Vietnam war, saved countless thousands of lives, and precipitated the fall of President Nixon. He didn’t go to jail because of gross misconduct on the part of the prosecution, but he was surely prepared to.

In contrast, the government did everything it could to keep Terry Lakin from being prosecuted. He revealed no truths, and his actions had no consequences for the President he had lost faith in. Two men of conscience, one convinced by evidence and one sucked in by rumors — one a hero and the other a dupe.

Lakin has already admitted he was wrong about Obama’s BC.

  23. Thrifty says:

I’m confused. Maybe I’m misremembering something, but didn’t Lakin, as he was being sentenced, say something like “I wish I could take it back. I shouldn’t have disobeyed orders.”?

Seems like that would mean he’s given up the fight and would just rather put this whole ugly affair behind him.

Well his birth certificate says he was born in Hawaii, and his grandmother says she remembers his birth in Hawaii, and that’s good enough for me. I don’t see any reason, knowing these two facts, why the President should be considered ineligible for his job. I have several additional reasons why he is.

  27. JoZeppy says:

nc1: I’ve been proudly sending monthly contributions to TLAF and will continue doing so while LTC Lakin is in prison.

I don’t send money to people who get their just desserts for violating a lawful order, any more than I send money to petty criminals or mass murders. The fact that the criminal has a roof over his head paid for by my taxes is all the money he deserves to get out of my pocket.

nc1: If nothing else your conscience will thank you once Obama’s cover is removed.

President Obama will not be removed.

nc1: Has it ever dawned on you that you might be supporting the wrong side in the eligibility debate?

If there wasn’t a mountain of evidence to support the fact that the President was born in Hawaii, and not an iota of evidence to support him being born anywhere else, I would consider it possible that I may be on the wrong side of the eligibility debate. However, I work in a reality based world, and all evidence points to him being born in Hawaii. Has it ever dawned on you that you have chosen your side of the eligiblity debate in a total vaccum of evidence?

nc1: I have no such qualms – even if Obama told the truth – I am still supporting the just cause: election process transparency.

Sure you are….you are nothing more than a non-governorable malcontent. The President has done more than any other past president to prove his eligibility for office, and all you do is whine about registration numbers and obsolete versions of documents.

nc1: If you were wrong – do you understand the consequences for the country?

Sure I do…not very much. The sun would still rise. The IRS would still collect taxes, and life would go on, and perhaps the President would resign and we’d have President Biden (OK…that part is pretty scary). However, the odds of there being a conspiracy that has gone on since 1961, that not even Hillary Clinton, nor John McCain, who had his Hawaii campaign headed by the person in control of the President’s vital records were able to crack (and in fact confirmed the Hawaiian birth), are too minute for me to really waste any time worrying about it.

  28. Thrifty: I’m confused. Maybe I’m misremembering something, but didn’t Lakin, as he was being sentenced, say something like “I wish I could take it back. I shouldn’t have disobeyed orders.”?

What he said was that he realized that failing to follow orders was not the way to get his questions answered (true). He didn’t say that his doubts were unreasonable.

I found this comment interesting, although not surprising at all:

Ellsberg had been a consultant for the government at the Pentagon since 1958 through the presidencies of Eisenhower, Kennedy, and, in 1964, Johnson. He has since stated: “I had seen a lot of classified material by this time—I mean, tens of thousands of pages—and had been in a position to compare it with what was being said to the public. The public is lied to every day by the president, by his spokespeople, by his officers. If you can’t handle the thought that the president lies to the public for all kinds of reasons, you couldn’t stay in the government at that level, or you’re made aware of it….

“The fact is presidents rarely say the whole truth—essentially, never say the whole truth—of what they expect and what they’re doing and what they believe and why they’re doing it and rarely refrain from lying, actually, about these matters.”

Dr. Lakin should be getting out of prison pretty soon. Once he does, he can practice medicine in MD or CO without any restrictions. The family did lose a pretty good pension due to his being found guilty, but since they are both physicians, they will survive, I am sure.

Dr. Lakin is a board certified family practice physician with expertise in aviation medicine and industrial medicine. I don’t think they need the money from the fund all that badly, but I am sure that there will be a few financial problems until he gets out.

Of course to state that none of this is due to his actions is foolish. He knew what he was getting into and paid the price.

    1. I’m not in the habit of sending money to convicted felons.

    2. What “cover”? The President is a natural born citizen, as has been pointed out to you at least 200 times.

    3. You are supporting nothing except your own hatred and delusions. You also are a hypocrite since you have consistently ignored calls to prove that you are not Orly Taitz or someone closely associated with her.

    4. The consequences for America if the President were found to be a foreigner are simple: President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., will give a press conference announcing his selection of some worthy Democrat as the Vice President, possibly a high ranking Democrat like Nancy Pelosi or Howard Dean. That person will then face a confirmation hearing and be sworn in. It’s all laid out in the Constitution.

  35. The Magic M says:

    > but the formatting is atrocious. It looks like somebody fed a troll too much HTML until it barfed code all over the Internet

That’s because Orly’s idea of quoting is “Ctrl-A Ctrl-C Ctrl-V Submit”. And she wonders why she’s hacked every other week.
If I wanted to hack her, I’d just need to set up a blog with some birther-friendly spicy content, add some nasty persistent XSS code to it, send Orly a link and wait until she pastes it verbatim into her blog. VoilÃ, I’d have her credentials and possibly everything else I wanted to be in control of.

  36. Thomas Brown says:

    Oh, nc1…

No, my deluded friend. Considering that there is a MOUNTAIN of evidence that Mr. Obama is exactly who he says he is, and NOT A SINGLE PALTRY SHRED of evidence that he isn’t… and the fact that a close examination of the so-called ‘evidence’ that he is ineligible shows a concerted effort to FABRICATE SUCH EVIDENCE, that such ‘evidence’ is all FAKE… the more logical question is: “Why has it never dawned on YOU that YOU might be supporting the wrong side in the eligibility debate?”

  37. obsolete says:

Great contrast between Daniel Ellsberg and Lakin, Doc C!
I also highly recommend Daniel Ellsberg’s book “Secrets: A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers”
Lakin won’t have books written about him nor movies made of his story in twenty years time, unless it is to mock him and the small movement of insanity that is the birthers.

  38. charo: “The fact is presidents rarely say the whole truth—essentially, never say the whole truth—of what they expect and what they’re doing and what they believe and why they’re doing it and rarely refrain from lying, actually, about these matters.”

The difference between Ellsberg and and the birthers is that Ellsberg had evidence while the birthers do not.

I’ve been reading the book about Abraham Lincoln: Team of Rivals that talks about how Lincoln withheld from the public (and even from some in his cabinet) what he was planning until the political stage was set. Obama is a student of Lincoln, and I would not be at all surprised if he follows a similar strategy. One difference is that Obama promises a lot, and occasionally has to backtrack. Lincoln, oh the other hand, promised very little. In fact after he was nominated for President, he said nothing at all to the public — something impossible in a modern presidential campaign.

Because I actually served in the U.S. military, and I have no use for members of the military who willfully refuse lawful orders and put their comrades at risk.

If you were wrong – do you understand the consequences for the country?

Even if I were wrong about Obama – which I’m not – it wouldn’t change my feelings about Lakin.

And what, exactly, would be the consequences for the country if your fantasy came true and Obama were found to be born in Kenya? He likely would resign, but if not he probably would be impeached and removed from office, Biden would become President, and the country would move along much as it always has. The sky is not going to fall.
