National alert issued on Sheriff Arpaio

The National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS), the industry association for vital records agencies in the USA, has issued a nationwide alert to its members warning them of possible contact by the Sheriff’s office. The following appeared in the June 27th Executive Director’s Newsletter.

Your office may have also recently received a survey from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona requesting specific information regarding birth registration.  In order to avoid misinterpretations surrounding this survey, states that choose to respond should supply only the appropriate statutes and/or rules and regulations that govern the birth filing processes.

It looks like Sheriff Joe is looking for a smoking gun somewhere, somehow, for his Obama “investigation.” I don’t see how this could be related to immigration, although I suppose that’s possible.

Thanks to Deep Birther for the information.

LOL! What a fishing expedition. Done in the name of his office? Seriously, what legitimate purpose would a county sheriff have in wasting resources (theirs and every other state’s) this way? Canvassing the whole country is not pursuing a specific investigation. It’s a thesis.

Pondering who else might be interested in the birth registration processes of every state.

Immigrations and citizenship concern nuts. The wingnuts perpetual obsession with ‘illegal’ voting.

Since it’s all funneling from and to WND, and from thence to wingnut cesspools all over, what else might they use Arpaio’s office as a front for?

Hahahaha everyone is being warned about the posse. Awesome 🙂

Doc, do you have a source for this info? Just curious.

Might be members only. Most of the stuff on their website requires a membership with a password.

Unfortunately, the newsletter in question is “members only”. Republishing on a public website wouldn’t be cool. Doc, did/do you receive this group’s pubs in your professional capacity?

Doc did cite Deep Birther. He wouldn’t spoof anyone, now would he?

The “Understanding a Birth Certificate” link at their site gave me a chuckle. If only there were such a link for birthers …

  6. RuhRoh says:

Doc, can you dig a little deeper into this or perhaps flesh it out a bit more without compromising your source?

This still feels a little sketchy.

I’m guessing this is it, and Doc C has included a blurb that he considers would be “fair use”. For all we know, this may be the entirety of the part of responding to Arpaio. Other than that, if it’s protected with usernames and passwords, then providing a link would be useless.

So this is how the Birthers report this on Politicalforum.com

As you know Sheriff Arpaio has just announced that he will hold a press conference on July 17th to the media about what they have uncovered in their ongoing investigation into Obama’s birthplace and especially the long form birth certificate. I was just cruising the net when I came across this National Alert just issued June 27th. It is an alert warning vital statistics departments in states to avoid Sheriff Arpaio’s questions to them pertaining to vital birth records. It was issued by the National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems. It states:

“Your office may have also recently received a survey from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona requesting specific information regarding birth registration. In order to avoid misinterpretations surrounding this survey, states that choose to respond should supply only the appropriate statutes and/or rules and regulations that govern the birth filing processes.”

Now what I want to know is why is this a problem? I think it was reported on Drudge Report a few days ago that Sheriff Arpaio sent official lawmen this time to the Hawaii Dept of Vital Statistics and other places in Hawaii to investigate people in that office that had anything to do with birth registrations, namely Barack Obama. I can only assume that this Alert was sent out in response to that investigation. It looks like someone doesn’t want the Sheriff investigating Obama and to not reply to him or his department on a national basis anywhere in the states. The website for the information about the alert is a pro Obama website.

Why is what NAPHSIS said a problem?

sfjeff: I think it was reported on Drudge Report a few days ago that Sheriff Arpaio sent official lawmen this time to the Hawaii Dept of Vital Statistics and other places in Hawaii to investigate people in that office that had anything to do with birth registrations, namely Barack Obama.

He sent one deputy and a posse member who has no “official” status or authority. What crime, under Arizona law, are they investigating?

sfjeff: It looks like someone doesn’t want the Sheriff investigating Obama and to not reply to him or his department on a national basis anywhere in the states

That isn’t what NAPHSIS said, is it?

sfjeff: The website for the information about the alert is a pro Obama website.

Hello? NAPHSIS is “pro Obama”? Where do you get that from?

  10. No. Read the text again. The comment was in response to a questionnaire sent to a state vital records office.

  11. Joe Acerbic says:

Somebody at NAPHSIS obviously knows how birfoons operate and is warning to give strictly by the book answers instead of anything “free form” that birfoons could easily distort.

  12. sfjeff says:

Okay folks- obviously I need to use quotation marks or better show that I was quoting a a Birther post on Politicalforum.com- not my own comments.

Well, if anyone knows how to distort, they would definitely be the birfoons.

Why would anyone be worried about anything Arpaio is going to say? If it’s anything, it’s giving birthers way too much credit.

  16. My least-insane guess is the Birther Posse is fishing for jurisdictions where it’s easier than average to get a copy of a birth certificate. Then, they can quote out of context and claim Hawaii is hiding something by following its procedures.

it’s just a few days before the frog marching begins, shreriff Joe will reveal a signed affydavid from the un-named forger , the signature will be blocked off. They need to protect the ID of the forger (because there is no forger)

Or the signature will be there… ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’

  19. JPotter says:

Keith: Or the signature will be there… ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’

Not ‘Mike’? Or ‘Derek’? Remember Derek?

‘Lucas D. Smith’! Run, Lucas, run! You know you want to. 😉

No way Arpaio’s going there. Too much for me to hope for. If he does, the sky’s the limit! The birthers will go nuts, frenzy, even. (And so will the obots, laughing at them). It’ll get some media chuckles, even. If he not only goes there, but implies there is a person in custody, in a specific place, look out. But again, Joe isn’t that nuts / dumb …. right?

I know, I know, it’s impossible to underestimate de birf.

  20. Keith says:

JPotter: Not ‘Mike’? Or ‘Derek’? Remember Derek?</blockquote

Nope. Dr. Polland or Dr. Polarik or whatever the heck his name is this week seems, despite his Phd. in what ever it might be this week, to be illiterate and he signs affidavits with 'X's.

  21. You misspelled “XXXXXXXXXXXX.”

Keith: Or the signature will be there… ‘XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX’

  22. There are a dozen or more states where birth records are public.

Michael Bauser: My least-insane guess is the Birther Posse is fishing for jurisdictions where it’s easier than average to get a copy of a birth certificate.

Oh. So I did. My mistake.

If Sheriff Joe has a signed confession from the forger, shouldn’t the forger be under arrest?

  25. Whatever4 says:

You can trust the signature of a confessed forger?

  26. Perhaps the sheriff offered him immunity.

Ha – maybe we should ask Lucas Smith about that!

  29. Rickey says:

I don’t believe that a sheriff has the authority to offer immunity to a suspect. That would be up to a prosecutor.

  30. RetiredLawyer says:

Rickey: I don’t believe that a sheriff has the authority to offer immunity to a suspect. That would be up to a prosecutor.

Aside from which, the “crime” if any, occurred outside of AZ. Any “immunity” anyone in AZ (except a Federal prosecutor) could give the forger would not be valid outside of AZ. So, whatever Sheruff Joe may have, it is not an affidavit that would be valid.

  31. donna says:

i would charge arpaio with dereliction of duty for allowing a “known forger” to walk the streets

he seems to be more than willing to lock up undocumented immigrants who have committed a misdemeanor but not a “forger”?

  32. I didn’t say anything about the offer being legitimate.

Ditto the offer of a hotel stay and a share of the sweet birfer bux so long as the patsy plays nice forger.

  34. Rickey says:

    Dr. Conspiracy:
I didn’t say anything about the offer being legitimate.

Fair enough – there isn’t much about Arpaio which is legitimate.

That said, if he does come up with an affidavit from someone confessing to forging the birth certificate, I would want to ask Sheriff Joe why the “forger” hasn’t been arrested.
