Birthers play the race card

While I have been hesitant to play the race card and make generalized statements saying that birthers are fundamentally racist, others have not, and they have used the “racist” label to good effect against birthers, to the point where I think that there are many, and maybe a majority who view birthers as racists (and undoubtedly they are right in many instances).

Birthers have been quick to pick up on any claims that they are racist and try to turn that into the entire argument to avoid the fundamental weakness of the birther position in general. However, seeing, I think, the effective use of the racist label when used against them, they are now responding in kind by labeling their opponents “racist.” Any time they can find two instances remotely parallel where the black guy is treated differently than they white guy, they cry racism, and we have seen such attacks against Barack Obama, Eric Holder and others.

We saw examples of this in the wake of the George Zimmerman trial in Florida this past July this such as the “Blackness Trumps Fairness (Eric Holder the Racist)” thread at the Free Republic from last July. Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld (in an ironic statement) suggested that calling some a racist unfairly is itself racist hate speech. Birther rock musician Ted Nugent said:

We are most offended that the president of the United States and the U.S. attorney general are clearly guilty of racism when they intentionally bring race to the fore when they make public judgments based on the color of someone’s skin instead of the content of their character in total defiance of the findings of the FBI, Department of Justice, entire state’s investigative resources and a jury verdict.

Orly Taitz is, of course, not to be left out of any anti-Obama movement. OC Weekly reports on this comment from Taitz, and her link to a racist web site:

More evidence of young black men beating up, mutilating and in some cases killing whites, particularly elderly, women and children. Black racist Eric Holder does nothing about it, only charged one white man with hate crime, did not charge any blacks, Demand impeachment hearings for Holder. Please, give me phone numbers of white men and women, who were victims of these attacks.

Black on white crime is a popular theme on the Taitz web site the last couple of days. Here are some articles, with links to the Taitz site (which still issuing that fake browser alert, so watch out):

The following are older articles from the Taitz site (where she is just copying the stories of others):

I see a lot of this garbage flying on the internet. Being a black person of 44 years. I have never “personally” witnessed black on white crime. I lived on Long Island, NY for 30+ of this. I am pretty sure there are crimes committed, but in my opinion, they are cherry-picked for shock-n-awe. It is not some epidemic as some would have you believe. Crime is crime, for every black on white crime, there are equally hate crimes on blacks, gays, lesbians, jews, asians, and arabs. It’s all cherry-picked to bring about fear.

My hat is off to you, sir, on your expose of the real motives of Orly Taitz and her minions. There is no doubt in my mind that Orly Taitz is a racist of the highest order. She has been spewing “code” for the past few years. She has made suggestions on her site (as you have articulated) to do nothing more than race bait for more financial contributions, from persons who are frankly afraid of the changing demographics.

Her opposition to amnesty or assimilation of those who have to live in the shadows of society, who are labeled by the Tea Party of the dregs of society, although they are the ones who clean their homes, provide cheap manual labor, serve in their restaurants and pick produce from the fields.

She is delusional. That’s being kind. Her pursuit of the President is nothing more that propaganda and now that everyone knows that her agenda and scripting (and possibly financial backing) is at the hands of the KKK, racial separatists and bigots – she’s done. Stick a fork in her.

She envisions a world without negroes, gays, hispanics, asians, and in that world, she becomes the ruling class. She’s nothing more than the Russian Mafia and her consistent references to Hitler and the Nazis – who were gone years before she was born, is a psychological response to her hidden love for and/or admiration for that type of government.

Like Obamacare, the question is this – if you topple President Obama – what do you replace him with? The Tea Party and their spokespersons, Orly Taitz and gal pal Sharon Angle is to remove the President with second amendment remedies (assassination) and then they take over. Let’s see where have I heard that before – oh yeah – Germany in Hitler’s day.

I hope that all of her minions wake up. Thank you for your outstanding article. It should be on the front page of the NY Times, LA Times, and others.

It’s a favorite wingnut chestnut. Don’t get Hermitian started on it. Yeesh.

Wingnuts, utterly lacking in emotional intelligence, empathy, and plain ol’ perspective, and chronically short on cultural and social exposure, simply don’t ‘get’ race. For them, it’s ideology and tribalism über alles. For a particularly weird example, consider this comment left at BirtherReport after Mandela’s death:

I don’t know much about apartheid. How does it compare to Eric Holder’s DOJ?

Good ol’ButterD. He was somewhat assured that South African apartheid was more extreme.

Geez, when you’re getting reproof from the crowd at BR … !

Unsurprisingly, WorldNetDaily has played a role in this too. They’ve been hyping cherry-picked incidents of “black mob violence” for the past year and a half, with special emphasis on the “knockout game.”

It’s a bit ironic, since WND also has probably the highest concentration of black conservative columnists on the web, which I figure is done to give them cover to race-bait.

You are correct. Farrar and Taitz are those who hide behind their “religious freedom” to inflict religious bigotry and cloak their hoods with the flag.

I may regret saying this, but it seems like the most visible black conservatives seem to be the off-the-deep-end types like Alan Keyes, Herman Cain, Ben Carson, Allen West, Erik Rush, Pastor Manning etc. You don’t see too many moderate conservatives or RINOs.

“The most divisive president evarr” is of course code for “How dare he keep bringing up race by, you know, being black!”

  8. Slartibartfast says:

The way I see it, all birthers are bigots (due to their prejudice against President Obama, if no one else) and none of them seem particularly concerned with the high proportion of outspoken racists amongst their fellow travelers (just like they don’t care about the liars as long as their lies smear President Obama)..

Reading Mitchell v. Wells, a case regarded as one of the worst lower court decisions in US history, I found this reference from Mississippi Chief Justice Sharkey’s opinion in Thornton v. Demoss:
“The color of a negro is prima facie evidence of liability to servitude.”
    I’ve found that case here:

Huh. Waste of good football watching time.

I much prefer College ball, but watching Nick Foles dissect the Saints oughta be a good distracting entertainment.

True — WND has managed to attract fringe black conservatives like Erik Rush, Ellis Washington and Mychal Massie, who I think actually agree with WND’s race-baiting and don’t see it for what it is. The chief WND race-baiter, Colin Flaherty, even managed to get his work endorsed by an (somewhat) respected black conservative, Thomas Sowell.

Not really an Eagles fan, but Foles is my man. He did his job pretty darn well, too bad about his buddies on defense.

Next for me would be the Patriots, again even though I’m not a Patriots fan either, but “The Gronk” is out of business for the season, so I’ll just have to stay on the sidelines for the rest of the playoffs.

Not really an Eagles fan either, but I love “Hotel California”. *bada-bing* OK, that was bad.

They’re not just fringe conservatives, they often sound like the whitest KKK members. I once remote-diagnosed Erik Rush as hating the colour of his own skin so much that he associated himself with white racists, of course he wasn’t pleased. 😉

    Too Black to Fail
    by Flotsam_Jetsome

Wikipedia describes “Too big to fail” as “a colloquial term in regulation and public policy that refers to businesses dealing with market complications related to moral hazard . . .” and describes the theory as being one which purports that “certain financial institutions are so large and so interconnected that their failure” would be catastrophic to the economy, and they therefore deserve to receive special treatment in the form of favorable financial and economic policies from either governments, central banks or both to ensure their continued viability. It’s as if these entities are so integral, so critical, that they must be propped up at virtually all costs.

Barack Obama is similarly the recipient of such favorable treatment. The policies beneficial to him are myriad, long-standing, and encompass not only economically and financially favorable elements, but include an astounding immunity to criticism. They are also racist.

No other man or woman would, with Mr. Obama’s stunning lack of verifiable historical, educational and vocational records, have ever in a million years been considered even a serious contender, let alone successful aspirant to the presidency, unless the fix was in. In short, Mr. Obama was elected on the basis of three traits: his good looks, his ability to follow a script, and his tan.

… The liberal American media wanted a candidate that could advance their favored socialist agenda with impunity. A huge number of the American electorate wanted, and still want to demonstrate that they aren’t racists themselves, by supporting a “black” man for office at all costs. The need for “racial healing” trumped all when it came to promoting, nurturing and cosseting Obama as a candidate, and it continues three years into the “administration” of this America-hating, Marxist, ineligible FAKE.

I wish that I could tell you that Obama and his evil (yes, evil) team of thugs are headed for a life of pink jumpsuits and baloney sandwiches a la Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s illustrious accommodations at a prison tent city in Arizona. Alas, I believe that the usurper and his helpers will for the most part be allowed to continue their shenanigans with near impunity through 20 January 2013, and that presumes that the electorate is not duped or shamed into voting for the huckster once again. In a world where truth and justice are honored, Dear Reader and his cabal of thugs, grifters and thieves would have been held to account long ago. Obama’s status as the first so-called “African American President” has unfortunately lent him a level of protection from political attack heretofore unseen in American politics. In the opinions of Congress, the Mainstream Media, the courts and far, far too many of the American public, he has truly been deemed Too Black to Fail. More’s the pity.

    ———-

nathanbedford: [“the elite media”] do not get that Obama is illegitimate. Whether he is constitutionally eligible or not, he is unqualified by experience and biography and, more importantly, by philosophy for governing America. The problem with Obama is not that he is unintelligent, he is intelligent enough. Nor is the problem that he is inarticulate, one need only watch a few of his one-on-one interviews to see that he sounds and looks presidential and has mastered that art. The problem is that Obama is a psychically incapable of governing America properly.

“nathanbedford”‘s psychograph of obama is difficult enough to take seriously on its own, but coming from a longtime freeper adopting both the name and avatar of a civil war era klansman

Flotsam_Jetsome: [obama] is in love with the position and the perks that go along with it, and is absolutely down with effecting socialist change via the powers of his office (as long as it’s others that are doing the heavy lifting), he is unwilling or unable to actually take his feet off the Resolute Desk and work to move the country forward. Scandalous is a good descriptor not only for how he gained office, but how he continues to hold it and fails to perform the duties of same.

    just another shiftless ni**er …

Yeah, Herms was all over the flash mob brownshirt Obama’s Urban Militia meme. And he had plenty of online company on that one.
