The article, “How Trump’s Remarks About Clinton Email Probe Mirror Birtherism,” has a simple enough basis. Regarding Obama’s birth certificate, Trump (in one of the articles selected quotes) said:
He may have [a birth certificate], but there’s something on that, maybe religion. Maybe it says he is a Muslim," he said. "I don’t know. Maybe he doesn’t want that.
Trump asserted without qualification that there is something on Obama’s birth certificate that he doesn’t want disclosed.
For Clinton’s emails, Trump similarly says:
During a campaign rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Monday, Donald Trump said he was "sure" that what’s contained in the emails at the center of the FBI‘s renewed probe into Hillary Clinton‘s use of a private server is "absolutely devastating."
I get upset about con men defrauding the elderly, about rape and murder. I have a hard time getting excited about a private email server, and certainly do not understand how that is a threat to democracy.
It’s a very deep rabbit hole. Suffice it to say, I don’t buy the story about Princess Di’s death. That’s just one of a huge number of possible connections to the cocaine trade. Imagine the headlines:
“Princess Di Murdered By American Ops In A Cocaine Deal Gone Bad.”

One of my favorite statements to come out of this comes from a Chris Matthews interview of Kelly Anne Conway. Matthews was pressing Conway on Donald Trump’s statements that this was worse than Watergate. And he stated to her whether or not Donald Trump had any evidence that it was worse than Watergate. She stated:
“Well, we don’t know. It could be worse than Watergate.”
My reaction to this (other than almost throwing something at the TV) was “Well, if you don’t know, then why are you stating this.”
But Nancy, no-one, absolutely no-one, buys any of your crazy stories!

Trump did it again today, repeating an already-discredited report that an FBI investigation of the Clinton Foundation is “likely to lead to an indictment”.
When challenged about it, Conway’s response was to cheer the fact that “the damage is done to Hillary Clinton”.
She came into the job with a reputation as an honest consultant, but she’s shown herself to be as sleazy as her client.
