Phase of the birth certificate?
Jerome Corsi alleges that anonymous moles within the Department of Health in Hawaii told his investigator, back in February, 2011, of a plan by “Obama operatives” to insert a fake birth certificate into a blank position in the bound volume of Hawaiian birth certificates from 1961. Corsi was speaking on the Alex Jones InfoWars radio show today.
Yes you heard me right. Now of course this immediately brings to mind the question of what former Republican-appointed health director Chiyome Fukino found when she looked at the bound volume back in 2009 that led her to report that Barack Obama’s birth certificate was on file. Does this birth certificate wink into and out of existence with the phase of the moon?

Birthers like confirmation (it’s their bias) and Corsi supposedly offers some in a zip file of articles (available on the InfoWars link above) he was preparing for WorldNetDaily that mention this Obama plot two months before the birth certificate appeared. Corsi says that the time stamps on the draft articles (in Microsoft Word format) prove his claim that he knew of the plot in February. Given that I wouldn’t had believed these fantastic tales in February, I don’t see how 3 months aging adds any credibility. There is nothing in the reports that demonstrates knowledge of anything in the public record today that was not in the public record in February. There is nothing “inside” or predictive in these reports.
It is of course possible to alter date stamps, but there’s no reason to assume they were altered.

Doc have you tried taking them into illustrator to see how many layers are created?
I love that none of these stories require evidence.
Doc at first I thought it was the zipping which might have changed the modified date, so I took some files I had from as far back as 2008. Zipped them into a zip file. Then extracted them into a different folder. The created date may say today but the modified date says 2008. Corsi is full of crap those articles were probably saved or created yesterday.
The original version of this article reported, in error, that the time stamps did not show a February date. They do. The internal zip file date for the articles was May 24.
Which part shorts a time stamp of February? Just marking the file name with the dates doesn’t help at all because he could have put those in at any time.
No, I just screwed up. I looked at the modified dates INSIDE the zip archive. Once extracted, they were February as claimed. However, that just means the story was made up in February rather than May.
One should always keep in mind the possibility that Corsi’s investigator is the fiction writer, and that Corsi is being duped.

What did you use to unzip the files? I used 7-zip.
Besides which the only thing required to have a Word document show any date you want is to set the computer clock to that date, and then create the document.
I can create a document today that would show a creation date that would show forensically to be 1995.
This is why file dates, document attributes, and things like exif information are not admissible in court.

Sounds to me like Corsi and Farah are getting very desperate. Book sales are in the toilet. Birtherism is faltering. There’s no chance of getting a birther into the Republican nomination…..
I’m looking to see increasingly ridiculous excuses out of WND in the months running up to the election.
What I think is most important in those February documents is that there’s nothing anachronistic or predictive about them. It’s simply an anonymous ‘source’ claiming that the White House possibly has intentions of forging a birth certificate at some undisclosed point in the future.
In other words, the ‘source’ is saying exactly what other Birthers have been saying for two years. There’s absolutely nothing to support the assertion of inside or advance knowledge.

Keep moving…nothing interesting to see here. Despite WND’s “cloak and dagger” tone in phrases like, “According to a top-level WND confidential source with access to officials within the Hawaii government…” there is nothing new or even particularly interesting in these articles. The articles are actually about the serial numbers on Obama’s and the Nordyke girls’ birth certificates. I have no problem believing they were written in February, 2011 since all the information in them was publicly available at that time. These guys sure know their audience, though. “WND cannot release the identity of the confidential source without risking the person’s life.” Birthers will eat this stuff up.

Its easy to fake the “save date” on a file. Just turn back the clock on your computer to whatever date you want.

I bought a digital camera back in October after my previous one broke. Got the new one from a pawn shop. The date stamp is set to some time in 2003, and I can’t figure out how to change it. So when I plug the camera into my computer, every file says “Date Modified” and a date in 2003. I could take a picture of today’s newspaper and it would have a picture dated in 2003. FUTURE CAM!
