Michelle Obama: A man?

I’m not really interested in this story, but I haven’t put up anything Wild & Wacky lately. In the video below what is called “scientific proof” explains why President Obama (whom certain people claim is gay) appears so affectionate towards his wife.

But you have to admit that the First Lady does appear a bit masculine in certain photos [this is satire, OK?] , such as this one:

    The producers of this piece of crap video, have made me for the first time in my life, question the wisdom of freedom of speech. These are the kind of people who scoff at the intent of our laws, by doing things like yelling, “CROWDED THEATRE!” in the middle of what is clearly a run-of-the-mill residential fire.

    I’m betting Doc was being sarcastic here when he referred to that magazine cover as making Michelle appear “masculine”! Speaking as a male who has been acutely if not tragically aware of female attraction all of his post-puberty life, she does not appear at all masculine to me. In fact, I don’t recall any of the men I have had to look at over the years, looking anything like the way she is shaped!

    Her degree of muscularity is healthy-looking, and does not suggest the steroid fueled excesses of both sexes that we sometimes see in the news, or I imagine increasingly at carnival side-shows as an enlightened public shows less interest in the old-school “freak shows”.

    I admit that reading BR and Orly’s can wear it out excessively. Not intended irony ruins up even the best irony-detectors available today.

    Once broken, they can’t even distinguish sarcasm from irony any more.

    The Nastiest Campaign in US History

    Negative campaigning in America was sired by two lifelong friends, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Back in 1776, the dynamic duo combined powers to help claim America’s independence, and they had nothing but love and respect for one another. But by 1800, party politics had so distanced the pair that, for the first and last time in U.S. history, a president found himself running against his vice president.

    Despite their bruising campaign, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams became friends again.

    Things got ugly fast. Jefferson’s camp accused President Adams of having a “hideous hermaphroditical character, which has neither the force and firmness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.”

    In return, Adams’ men called Vice President Jefferson “a mean-spirited, low-lived fellow, the son of a half-breed Indian squaw, sired by a Virginia mulatto father.”

    As the slurs piled on, Adams was labeled a fool, a hypocrite, a criminal, and a tyrant, while Jefferson was branded a weakling, an atheist, a libertine, and a coward.

    Even Martha Washington succumbed to the propaganda, telling a clergyman that Jefferson was “one of the most detestable of mankind.”

    Jefferson hires a hatchet man

    Back then, presidential candidates didn’t actively campaign. In fact, Adams and Jefferson spent much of the election season at their respective homes in Massachusetts and Virginia.

    But the key difference between the two politicians was that Jefferson hired a hatchet man named James Callendar to do his smearing for him. Adams, on the other hand, considered himself above such tactics. To Jefferson’s credit, Callendar proved incredibly effective, convincing many Americans that Adams desperately wanted to attack France. Although the claim was completely untrue, voters bought it, and Jefferson stole the election.

    Jefferson paid a price for his dirty campaign tactics, though. Callendar served jail time for the slander he wrote about Adams, and when he emerged from prison in 1801, he felt Jefferson still owed him.

    After Jefferson did little to appease him, Callendar broke a story in 1802 that had only been a rumor until then — that the President was having an affair with one of his slaves, Sally Hemings. In a series of articles, Callendar claimed that Jefferson had lived with Hemings in France and that she had given birth to five of his children.

    The story plagued Jefferson for the rest of his career. And although generations of historians shrugged off the story as part of Callendar’s propaganda, DNA testing in 1998 showed a link between Hemings’ descendents and the Jefferson family.

    Just as truth persists, however, so does friendship. Twelve years after the vicious election of 1800, Adams and Jefferson began writing letters to each other and became friends again. They remained pen pals for the rest of their lives and passed away on the same day, July 4, 1826. It was the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

    Rachel Jackson was treated abysmally. She was called an adulteress and newspaper editorials said she should never be allowed to enter the White House if her husband won. John Quincy Adams’ supporters called her a bigamist and made it an active part of Adams’ campaign.

    Mary Todd Lincoln was called treasonous in newspapers because some of her family were Confederates. She was accused of supplying medicine to the Confederacy. She was trashed mercilessly after her husband was assassinated, accused of being selfish about his burial. President Johnson publicly refused to call on her after he assumed office, and was accused of stealing from the White House when she left after the assassination.

    I could go on, but you get the picture. Instead of being subject to strange theories by marginalized nuts, the families of presidents in the past were excoriated in public by the mainstream media and politicians of the day.

    Political commentary and campaign ads of the past were much nastier in the past, too.

    I watched the video and I’m having an identity crisis. For 53 years, I believed I was a female but seeing this scientific proof I’m questioning my gender. I too have a longer ring finger. I too have wide shoulders. I too am tall (5’11”). I wear loose fitting slacks. I have an Adam’s Apple. I must be a man. Why didn’t someone tell me? Now I have to tell my 5 children that they were all adopted and I must have had phantom pregnancies.
